Grex Agora41 Item 82: Everybody Talks About the Weather
Entered by krj on Thu Apr 11 18:17:22 UTC 2002:

In the winter we complain about the cold and snow; in the summer we
whine about the heat. In spring there's just not much to say about
the weather. Gosh, it's lovely out today...

I work in an office with no windows where it is roughly the same temp
all year round (which is why I have to bring a sweater in the summer).
It bums me out that I dont get to appreciate nice days like this. OH
well.

#6 of 69 by mary on Fri Apr 12 01:05:34 2002:

I have never seen more people gathered at Gallop Park than
today, about 5:30 p.m. Not even on a summer holiday. It
was a party for spring.

#7 of 69 by micklpkl on Fri Apr 12 04:05:47 2002:

Welcome to Spring, Grex! (at last) :)

Texas is riotous with colour, a couple of weeks behind schedule. Columbines
are just beginning to erupt into yellow starbursts.

#8 of 69 by jaklumen on Fri Apr 12 04:29:40 2002:

We've had spurts of good weather since February or so-- March snow was
kinda weird-- but despite intermittent clouds in April, we've been
enjoying sun in Eastern Washington.

#9 of 69 by mcnally on Sat Apr 13 00:37:41 2002:

Late last night I heard the frogs croaking in a marshy spot nearby..
I guess it really *is* spring -- it's been a little hard to tell lately.

#10 of 69 by keesan on Sun Apr 14 00:56:42 2002:

We saw at least 15 painted turtles sunning themselves on rocks or islands in
the river today. And the first mosquito. The chickweed is in bloom as is
the river alder.

#11 of 69 by mcnally on Sun Apr 14 08:18:11 2002:

I forgot about the mosquitoes, but I suppose they, too, are signs of
the changing season. I was attacked by a swarm of them on Easter Sunday
when I interupted my walk in the foothills of the Cascades to admire a
  waterfall.

#12 of 69 by fitz on Sun Apr 14 08:52:26 2002:

Yes, it's a beautiful day of shorts, sundresses and halter-type attire on
beautiful women. I'm too old. When they smile at me now, I know it's because
they miss their grandfathers.

Can spring be enjoyed while I'm making Faustian calculations?

#13 of 69 by ric on Mon Apr 15 01:37:03 2002:

It's going to be in the low to mid 80's all week here in sunny North Carolina.

#14 of 69 by jep on Mon Apr 15 12:17:31 2002:

In Michigan we're expecting the 70s and 80s this week. It's going to
be a nice week, except it's supposed to rain tonight and Wednesday.

#15 of 69 by krj on Mon Apr 15 15:44:16 2002:

It's too warm too fast. I wanted more 50 degree weather.

#16 of 69 by ric on Mon Apr 15 23:18:17 2002:

Global Warming.... so be it.

#17 of 69 by russ on Tue Apr 16 04:03:07 2002:

I'm sure we'll have the 50-degree weather. In June and July.

#18 of 69 by jared on Tue Apr 16 14:15:25 2002:

I could live at a nice constant 68-72 range. This sudden 82-degree
weather caught me off guard.

#19 of 69 by ric on Wed Apr 17 01:47:30 2002:

I'd love such a climate. It was nearly 90 here today.

#20 of 69 by danr on Fri Apr 19 00:40:09 2002:

It's gonna be in the 50s this weekend--low 50s at that.

#21 of 69 by gull on Fri Apr 19 02:10:43 2002:

Good. I'm getting tired of hearing my neighbor's A/C unit straining
for breath. They don't seem to have realized that the apartment
complex's maintenance people haven't removed the winter covers from the
condensor vents, yet.

#22 of 69 by ea on Sat Apr 20 22:49:07 2002:

Weather in Syracuse today: Earthquake, rain, turned sunny, and now a bit
cool, but still sunny.

Around 6:30am, there was an earthquake, centered around Plattsburgh, NY.
I woke up and wondered why my bed was shaking. I ended up getting a
flashlight and checking under the bed to make sure it wasn't just a
practical joke. The US Geological Survey reports that it was a 5.1 on
the Richter scale. (However, their Canadian counterparts said it was a
5.5. Must be the conversion rate :) )

#23 of 69 by krj on Sun Apr 21 00:25:09 2002:

The Detroit forecast is fun. Possible sleet Sunday afternoon, and
snow likely Sunday night. Guess I have to get an early start
on mowing the lawn Sunday.

#24 of 69 by danr on Sun Apr 21 00:46:05 2002:

Ugggh. I'd supposed to lead a 50-mile bike ride tomorrow.

#25 of 69 by gelinas on Sun Apr 21 03:52:06 2002:

Another good day for sailing, maybe.

#26 of 69 by michaela on Sun Apr 21 06:42:14 2002:

It's pretty cold in Kalamazoo (not that I mind), but I'd hate to have snow
after all the Spring weather.

#27 of 69 by krj on Sun Apr 21 16:21:39 2002:

Rats. We had an early shower in Ann Arbor which wiped out my plans
to get the lawn mowed before the sleet and snow started.
It'll be a jungle out there before I get a chance to get the mowing
done now.

#28 of 69 by jep on Mon Apr 22 02:44:50 2002:

It was snowing in Eaton Rapids this morning at 10, but I saw no signs
of it after returning to Tecumseh this afternoon. There was some light
rain this afternoon as I was coming back, but no snow.

#29 of 69 by gull on Mon Apr 22 14:03:45 2002:

There's a freeze warning for tonight. I'll have to remember to bring my
houseplant in off the balcony.

#30 of 69 by carson on Sun Apr 28 05:37:55 2002:

We presently have falling snow, further proving that I dwell in the
Promised Land.

#31 of 69 by carson on Thu May 16 14:18:38 2002:

(it's SNOWING!!) :) :) :)

(AGAIN!!) :) :) :)

(I **LOVE** THIS PLACE!!) :) :) :)

#32 of 69 by slynne on Thu May 16 15:41:29 2002:

Hehe. Yeah, I loved the UP too but I have to admit that I did get kind
of sick of winter around May.

#33 of 69 by jared on Fri May 17 05:49:43 2002:

Luckily they retraced the snow that was originally in the
saturday forecast here.

#34 of 69 by bhelliom on Fri May 17 16:51:11 2002:

OH! So you're saying that snow was expected? <shudder>

#35 of 69 by krj on Fri May 17 20:04:45 2002:

Now it's just "patchy frost" in the Detroit forecast.

#36 of 69 by oval on Fri May 17 20:49:17 2002:

77 and goigeous.

#37 of 69 by slynne on Fri May 17 23:34:15 2002:

BITCH!

#38 of 69 by bdh3 on Sat May 18 05:39:54 2002:

Expected low here is only 36. Its f*kin May for peyote's sake!
Two days ago it was over fourty degrees higher!

#39 of 69 by krj on Sat May 18 22:08:23 2002:

The 3:45 pm Detroit forecast says we have a possibility of a brief
period of sleet or snow tonight, and Sunday afternoon and evening,
mixed in with the scattered rain showers.
