Capitalist scum.

#2 of 111 by other on Sun Jun 9 21:17:40 2002:

Sorry, Phil. That's not one of the items up for sale.

#3 of 111 by aruba on Sun Jun 9 22:58:31 2002:

I think we could both order a batch of T-Shirts locally and also have other
items available on Cafe Press - it's not an either-or thing.

I'm not so worried about the volunteer labor as Valerie is. I volunteer to
deal with money and with nagging people who haven't paid - it's mostly what
I do anyway. I think Sylvia's (not-actually-in-existence-but-assumed-by-me)
job description would include mailing out shirts. Does that jibe with what
you think, Sylvia?

I do have some scum in my backyard, if Phil wants to purchase it.

#5 of 111 by ea on Mon Jun 10 03:19:00 2002:

re #4 ... but is it capitalist scum or just plain run-of-the-mill scum?

#7 of 111 by oval on Mon Jun 10 04:03:45 2002:

i would love a grex tshirt but while i don't give a shit about fashion in most
ways, i do like to wear things that fit my taste no matter what they cost etc.
i like small t's since i am small and since i got dragged through several
years of typography and graphic design classes and art directors etc i care
lots about typefaces/settings on my normal blank clothing. that being said
i am getting ready to get rid opf my printer and ahve some iron-on paper type
stuff that works with my printer and would like to make a print that says GREX
fairly large in sans serif, slightly condensed face with www.cyberspace.org
smaller underneathe and justified and iron it on a shirt that fits me. is that
okay? if i take a photo of it or something? free advertisement! take that
capitalists scum!!! ;)

#8 of 111 by brighn on Mon Jun 10 04:39:54 2002:

#5> Since I'm selling it, it's SCUM (because I've capitalized it).

#9 of 111 by jaklumen on Mon Jun 10 04:57:59 2002:

I took a look and bookmarked the page. It looks good, and I'm
considering something.

#10 of 111 by richard on Mon Jun 10 06:58:40 2002:

why are the tshirts only in white? no blues or greys or reds or any thing?

#11 of 111 by oval on Mon Jun 10 07:01:22 2002:

sexy black tight T's with GREX in sans serif!!!!!!!!! :D

#12 of 111 by richard on Mon Jun 10 07:11:29 2002:

hey, there are even Grex Boxer Shorts! You know Grex has made it big when
you can get genuine grex-logo boxer shorts! :)

#13 of 111 by russ on Mon Jun 10 11:49:12 2002:

Re #4: Would that be capitalist scum or pagan scum, Paul?

#14 of 111 by bhelliom on Mon Jun 10 12:36:56 2002:

Wow. I feel terrible that I bottomed out and couldn't do much for the
last couple of weeks. Thanks for doing this, Valerie.

#15 of 111 by polytarp on Mon Jun 10 12:42:36 2002:

Oi vey, no! I don't want to *buy* capitalist scum! I was saying that you
*are* capitalist scum!

#16 of 111 by vmskid on Mon Jun 10 13:50:09 2002:

That "order at your own risk" thing doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

#17 of 111 by brighn on Mon Jun 10 14:42:43 2002:

#10> CafePress only allows you to choose white (there's on ash-gray shirt)
unless you pay their premium prices.

#13> Pagan scum can't be capitalist? I know plenty of capitalist pagan scum
(most of them are on Llewellyn Press).

#18 of 111 by aruba on Mon Jun 10 15:02:51 2002:

Re #16: I'm sure Valerie will have an update when she gets th items she
ordered.

Re #7: Oval, if you're a graphic designer, would you consider thinking up
a new T-Shirt design?

#19 of 111 by oval on Mon Jun 10 15:10:04 2002:

sure. i love grex. grex is nice.

#21 of 111 by brighn on Mon Jun 10 17:08:53 2002:

I can't find it now, Valerie, but for a while they did have a program for
printing on color... but it wasn't POD, it was preorder in minimum quantities.
I think it does have something to do with the way they do the printing, and
with their satisfaction guarentee. I don't know if they still offer that
service. I've actually been frustrated with CafePress, because of the limited
print areas on shirts (which looks kinda dorky on larger shirts, IMHO).

#22 of 111 by keesan on Tue Jun 11 02:46:56 2002:

I vote that we hire oval to print up a bunch of iron-on grex logos (in some
colorfast ink) that other people can order for $5 and put onto whatever color,
size and style of clothing they prefer to wear. Jim says he would like a bike
sticker (which is different from a car sticker).

#23 of 111 by polytarp on Tue Jun 11 03:19:33 2002:

Shut-up, keesan.

#24 of 111 by aruba on Tue Jun 11 03:40:25 2002:

I think it would be great if oval thought up a T-Shirt design and shared it
with us. If a lot of people like it, maybe we could order a batch of shirts
locally.

#25 of 111 by polytarp on Tue Jun 11 04:04:10 2002:

Shut-up, aruba.

#26 of 111 by oval on Tue Jun 11 06:04:37 2002:

umm, it would be very simple and utilitarian looking. it would just be

                                GREX

das it.

not real exciting.

s'why i get the BIG BUX.

#27 of 111 by bhelliom on Tue Jun 11 12:17:11 2002:

Perhaps it would be a good idea to open up the field? A contest among
Grex users, the winner getting a T-shirt on white background with their
design. This of course would be open to any with an account, provided
they give a legitimate address to send the T-shirt to.

#28 of 111 by polytarp on Tue Jun 11 12:42:48 2002:

Shut-up, oval and bhellsomethiungorother.

#30 of 111 by oval on Tue Jun 11 15:20:44 2002:

i like that idea.

#31 of 111 by bhelliom on Tue Jun 11 19:31:42 2002:

Perhaps now that we have the web interface, it will reach more grexers
and new users. Post something on the initial page about a design
contest, and state the nature of the same via a link.

And if the contest doesn't fly, we can always have a generic design
available. But if the contest does work, we can always resurrect it
every could of years or so, since we won't have an inventory to get rid
of.

Shut-up, valerie.

#33 of 111 by rcurl on Tue Jun 11 20:15:14 2002:

Re #10: you can dye a white T-shirt (or anything else) whatever color
you would like.

I gather they don't divulge how they print? That is, the materials and
technique?

#34 of 111 by polytarp on Tue Jun 11 20:31:01 2002:

Shut-up, rcurl.

#35 of 111 by rcurl on Tue Jun 11 21:50:11 2002:

tale.
