well, isn't that a pretty picture. Item didn't show up in the list, no one
responded to it, and I bought three bikes.

How much were they?

Re #1: You didn't have to buy bikes for everyone who wasn't there, Bruce.

4.50

four dollars and 50 cents? Wow, I should have gone.

Bikes that are better than the one you already have would probably go
for more than $4.50. You definitely want to go to such an auction with
someone who knows bikes.

actually, only a few bikes went for more than 4 or 5 dollars. The ones that
went for more were nearly brand new, or were apparently top of the line
mountain bikes. One that was in very poor condition brought the most money,
going for about $80 + dollars. Must have been a custom trail bike in its
heyday.

I have been to police auctions where exactly the opposit has been the case.
Where bikes went for more than they were worth. I bought several bikes at
an auction one time that the only thing worth saving were the frames and they
cost me $20 apiece.

I didn't have the money to keep the price going on some of the things I would
have liked to buy as I really have to worry about bills now that I am out of
work. If I had 100 to spare, I could have got some real good deals.

What are you going to do with the three you bought, Bruce?

hopefully ride them. My daughter needed a new one, I needed one, and
hopefully the third we can at some point convice twila to ride. (she isn't
interested in riding) WE all need the exercise.

They have a similar thing here in K'zoo--a police/county govt auction in
the spring and fall. They typically have a couple hundred bikes, the
vast majority of which sell for a buck or two. In contrast, much of the
other stuff (especially the tools and electronics) tend to go for more
than what they'd cost new/retail.

Does anyone knowwhen the annual City or County auctions are? I'm speaking
of the ones that they hold at the Airport.
