lizard

The major differences between this game and mastermind are
1) only letters that match in both place AND type are scored,
2) words may have more than one of a given letter, and
3) all words (including guesses) must be real words, found in some
dictionary (sometimes not mine, as with libard!). When a word
is obscure enough that some/most participants probably have not
heard it before, it is usually polite to give a definition.

then I should apologize for wezart which is not to my knowledge a word.
Pardon...;-)

Heh...you had me looking through numerous dictionaries for that one.
Looked like it might have an interesting meaning...though I'm glad
to see that my not being able to find it was due to its lack of
wordliness...

Thanks! If that wasn't it I was out of possibilities.
OK I am thinking of a 6 letter word. Since even thereally tough words
are getting picked off quickly, I have chosen a not-so-tough word
in an attempt to keep everyone in the running.

I'll keep a log of responses in /u/srw/letter.match

Right around 12 guesses again. Say, at 998 responses, this item is
getting slow to come up. Don't we usually restart letter match in
a new item when the current item gets to 1000? Why not do it now,
so we don't have to cut and run in the middle of a game? Or do we
want to start and finish a new game first?

Let's restart. It has been getting slow. Aruba, looks like you can
have the pleasure!
