(Question: I've noticed frequently that users announce, as aa8ij did, that
someone had "slipped in". Apparently aa8ij and I were composing our
replies simultaneously, and I was a bit earlier in hitting return. However,
does this ever matter? I have been told while composing, that someone had
slipped in, but I never cared. Is one supposed to announce the fact?)
We are approaching the Millenium of Letter Match. A record, do I understand
correctly? What would people think of restarting the game in another
Item, when we reach the Millenium (or, until the then current game is
ended)? Is there any objection? If not, at the appropriate time, I will
enter a preamble in a new item, explaining the game briefly, referring
to the rules file, etc. What would be the most appropriate way to end
this Item? (I forget the options available to a Fairwitness - but if I
look them up, I'd still ask, what would be the best choice.)

Good idea, restarting in a new item. The best way to end this item
would probably be to enter a response pointing people to the new item
and then freezing this one. It would still be readable but wouldn't
leave room for folks to be confused and use both items.

(Yes, I think 1000 responses will be a Grex record. Re "slipping in":
A reason to announce that somebody "slipped in" on you is to alleviate
possible confusion, e.g. if people might think you were responding to
the response that slipped in rather than some earlier response.)

I think Rane should start a new item after freezing this one, per
Mary's earlier suggestion.

But don't freeze it until it reaches 1000 responses!
