Note that while "missle" appears to be a common misspelling of
"missile" it is also in the OED as an obsolete form of "missel".

Neither one of those quotes spelled it the way the OED does. I wonder how
they decided it was a word, spelled the way they spell it? What criteria
does it have to meet?

I suppose at some point it was decided that while full would stay full,
-full would become -ful. I imagine to make English spelling is difficult
as possible

(I think sometimes/most of the time, the OED goes for the earliest
known usage, not necessarily current spelling).

I got a message on my voice mail yesterday from prp - he said he will be
away from Grex for several weeks, and would like someone else to take over
being "it". Who would like the opportunity?
