I like it, Rane, a recursive definition. Say the word and the reins of
the game are yours.

No, I just wanted to tackle the challenge. The game is still yours. And
we aren't making very fast progress with it, are we?

I think "plateu" is a misspelling of "plateau"; at any rate my dictionary
doesn't have anything between "plateresque" and "platform". If this
is an alternate spelling, could someone confirm it for me? (or if you
could tell me a dictionary it's in Vidar, that would do.)

The guesses so far, if I haven't mentioned it, are in /u/aruba/letter.match

Maybe. Maybe it's an "alternative" spelling.

Looks like it's your turn to go dig through the dictionaries and
other sources to prove that "plateu" is an alternative spelling
of "plateau" or "plateaux". No maybes allowed. Heh heh.

DING DING DING DING! kentn has it with "zephyr". Very nicely
done, considering only 2 correct letters had previously appeared.
You're up, Kent.

And we didn't even know what the two correct letters were! (Zephyr
sounds pretty familiar, though - didn't you use that once, Kent?)

I did a "f zephyr" at the "respond, or are you puzzled?" prompt before
I picked the word, and it hadn't appeared as a word or a guess before.

{Not in this reincarnation of the game - perhaps in an earlier one.
Did you do the "f" in agora, or in whatever its linked-to? Even then,
the game goes back further than the link. It just sounded familiar....

You're kidding!!!?! It was a GUESS... I considered it quite likely
to generate a zero, in which case I could knock e and r off the
list. I don't believe I've ever guessed or used zephyr in this game.
[ Are we ready to move up to 7-letter word match :^) ]
Okay, let's see if *your* ESP is working as well as mine just did :)
I'm thinking of a 6-letter word...

How about a ruling on 'friday'? The rules say no "proper names"
-- does that include the names of days of the week, months, etc.
That is, words that are nouns and always capitalized? Or only the
names of people and places?

Proper "nouns"
And nouns are people, places and things. Proper nouns are the names of persons
.places and things.
