syl: it's a bitch, ain't it? but oddly empowering to realize that there's
something really wrong that makes you feel like crap and have so much trouble
getting yourself going.
Drugs are good. Believe me, drugs are good. I still have spans of time
where I just want to curl up and cry (or worse) but they are much less
frequent and MUCH less severe than they were before I started taking drugs--
they're even significantly less severe than they were before my dosage was
adjusted. Good luck to you. I look forward to reading and participating
in your item on depression.

I suppose the most empowering part in the very beginning is the
realization that you're not going nuts and that you're not deluding
yourself.
I've only on the increased dosage since last Thursday, so it's to ealy
to tell if this will be the last time my dosage is increased. I think
it will be abother week or to before I can tell which way it's leaning
anyway.
One of the most frustrating things, though is the possibility that I
won't be able to start grad school again next fall. It will be five
years at least for a JD/PhD, so it's going to be wearing as it is
without dealing with this on top of it. I think it all depends on how
I am doing around when I have to register for the LSAT. I thought
about taking the GRE again, just for kicks (okay, so I am insane), but
one thing at a time. If it looks as if I won't be able start the haul
next year, I'll be disappointed but I will be better off waiting
another year in the long run.

Insane maybe, but not crazy (or is it the other way around?)
I had the same thoughts in the early stages of my depression, about
going mad.

Drilled a hole in my toenail to let out the pressure (see yesterday's bummed
posting), and this morning it feels much better. That and being paranoically
diligent about sunblock, which means I've got no sunburn as yet. And today
is a cloudy day!

Drilled a hole in your toenail, huh? I'm assuming this sounds less
painful that what's in the bummed item, so I'll suppress the shudder
until I read your post. :)

I feel MUCH less out of control than I did yesterday. And it looks like I
might be roadtripping back for the stanley cup parade and cedar point after
all...and it's good to feel like I have my head together again.

Took a hike last night and my leg problem seems to be greatly reduced.
Home early and it looks like the weather will allow a bike ride today!

Drilling a toenail sounds painful, but it really isn't that bad. A blood
blister under the toe is painful, and drilling relieves the pressure and soon
almost all of the pain.
Want to hear more gory detail? I used a soldering iron with a sharp tip, so
that I didn't have to deal with the painful pushing/pulling of a drill bit
(last time I used a very small bit in an Xacto handle).

I found today that I made the second cut in applying for a job with
Simmons Comfort World. I talked to the store manager, and he said
that the Spokane office had narrowed down the number of applicants to
three from the five that they at the store had chosen. It's taking
them a long while to decide, it seems, but I'm still in the running.
This is a full-time job.. no more working part-time for peanuts!

When I worked ER the department invested in a specialized tool for doing
just what Scott did, to drain the hematoma/infection under a nail. After
using the gizmo a couple of times it was decided the old technique really
did work best. We went back to using a straightened paperclip and heating
the tip red hot with a lighter. Worked great.
But still, I'd advise this not be tried at home unless you know what
you're doing and what's going on under the nail.

Sorry about all the nauseating details. The Happy Item part is that my toe
felt completely normal all yesterday. Well, the little-used steel toed shoes
were somewhat uncomfortable, which is why I rarely wear them. I'll probably
go back to the boots today.

IHB- I had a rather good evening yesterday, got to cuddle a 4-5 week
old baby kitten my neighbors adopted/rescued, played with Loki, Max and
Sammy- and then saw Spencer- these types of events always cheer me up.
IAHB- the roomie and I had fun last night just hanging out at Denny's,
which can - on occasion - be an interesting place to spend part of an
evening.

My roommate slipped in. We're also currently engaging in e-mail
warfare.
Well, even though I'm tired after not getting to sleep before 12
midnight or 1 am everyday for the past week, I'm not annoyed for having
gone to bed late last night. Went out to dinner and Mooncat and I ran
into people we used speak to on a regular basis. We intended to eat
and go, but ended up staying there until 12 midnight. Well worth the
fatigue I feel this morning. I'll be going to bed tonight right after
the game. Hopefully this lack of needed rest won't adversly affect my
mood this weekend.
I'm really glad you're feeling better Scott. You, too, Carolyn!
