Right, since there weren't any other alternatives.
I'm going to have to start using a coin.
It had to be one or the other, and I was *so* sure rcurl would have
chosen truce rather than trunk.

fooey 0 srw fooey??!
trunk 5 chelsea
(Pretty sure of yourself, there, chelsea. What srw needs is another
dictionary. "Truce" isn't *in* MacMillans Very First Dictionary.)

Arrrgh. I forgot that rather large hint you gave at the beginning,
rcurl. You picked the right time -- Just when I was getting used to
playing without hints and psyching you out.
Chelsea had every right to be sure of herself.
No other combinations of 5 letters were possible except t-r-u-n-k.
You shouldn't have answered "fooey" as it was not a test word.
You could have determined this by the fact that it was not my
turn to ask. Katie will wonder whether you're playing favorites. :-)

aa8ij came between with "that". He spells OK, but, counting?

OK, rcurl, are you saying that "that" counted as a guess?
Under those circumstances, I could have won, since I knew "trunk".
It was not in my interest to reveal "trunk" at that point if my
guess was going to be disallowed, as I expected. In fact,
I said fooey because it was going to be disallowed.
Please clarify the rules.
Of course I could have beaten chelsea that night with the use of a
pseudo, but I have some pride.

I would have bet my firstborn that "truce" would have been
Rane's word. It just sounded right.
I'm thinking of a five letter word.

(I guess I didn't have enough sf sf sf in the little exchange over the
status of "that" and "fooey". The rules are the same, and I was being
"funny". I guess I better be more careful in this serious crowd ;-).

I'm glad the rules didn't change. I saw your sf in 873 but your 879
response confused me (for a minute) into thinking you had been
serious. It's no big deal, just a matter of who wins, as if aa8ij
had guessed anything except trunk in 872, I would have won.
Who, me? Serious? Competitive? You must be kidding. :-)

I never intended to enter the word "that" as a guess. This contest is
only for five letter words.

I know it's one over {the 5 guess limit. But I'm easy.
I'm also on a merit line presently and my sc{reen is full of
line noise. If this is garbled I'll reenter it later.
