Okay, we have a location and a date.

I've reserved space at the First Presbyterian Church,
1432 Washtenaw Ave, on Saturday June 8th, 3:00 p.m.
This is a nice room that will comfortably seat maybe
30 people, give or take a few. It has lots of nice
windows, a fireplace, and a grand piano.

Unless this doesn't work for a whole lot of people
I'll let the reservation stand and send in the
rental fee. There will be no charge for attending
(or performing). This is my treat.

Maybe afterward we could all move over to Uno's for
a post-recital debriefing.

"The post-recital debriefing is not Mary's treat", she
quickly adds. ;-)

I'll have to check with someone whose anniversary is the next day, but it's
fairly likely that we might attend as audience and/or performers. I'll say
more definitely later.

(Somehow I doubt that we'll need the fireplace that day, though you never know
around here ...)

Sorry...birdy can't make it as planned. That day at 3:00 I'll be driving down
96 on my way to my relatives house. =(

How about a blackboard, Mary? :)

response 82 of 236: Mark Unseen   Apr 17 19:03 UTC 1996

Mark: We have an overhead. If you need something, and no blackboard is
handy, I can bring that... :)

How good is it in a bright room?

response 84 of 236: Mark Unseen   Apr 17 21:27 UTC 1996

(Re #82: Thanks Dan. I was half kidding, because I'm not sure Mary really
wants me to prove the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. It doesn't really
match the rest of the program, and this is Mary's baby, so I'll leave it up
to her.)

(I could provide dramatic chords on the piano at key points
in the proof.)

I outta just call all those bluffs and bring the chalk. ;-)

Actually, just about anything goes as long as it wouldn't
weird out parents and small children, of which there may be
a few. Voice, instrumental performances, kazoos (kind of a
hybrid of the two), poetry, prose, whatever you care to share.

At some point I'd appreciate those who will be taking a turn
up front to send me mail listing what they'll be doing. I'm
actually going to put together some modest program notes.

I should be able to be there. In which case I will!

I certainly would like to hear the proof, but then I'm a certified wierdo...

Somebody make a tape of this, you can sell cassettes along with
tshirt and mugs to raise money!

response 91 of 236: Mark Unseen   Apr 18 03:03 UTC 1996

Is this your own original proof, or will you just be performing someone
else's?

Um, Mary, it does occur to me that "comfortably seats 30" or whatever words
to that effect you used is probably going to be rather uncomfortable. But
we'll see ...

personally it would be worth the cost of the cassette if Popcorn sings
either "You light up My life" or "I will always love you"

I, too, would like to see this proof. Especially withdramatic
chords. :)

I'll bring my new nuclear powered hi-tech CD player/tape recorder/PA system,
and I might even record the event for future purposes, This could be ... how
shall we put it.... Interesting. ;)

response 95 of 236: Mark Unseen   Apr 18 05:10 UTC 1996

I am afraid I don't have a thoroughly original proof of the FToC, but I'll do
my best to jazz up a standard one. I could prove some original stuff if you
like, but that would probably not interest as many people.

Aruba is on the program. You are responsible for bringing
your own visual aids. And I can't wait to see this.

The reservation has been changed. The accommodations will now
seat 50, comfortably. I can't imagine we'll actually get anywhere
near that, but what the heck. Sound better?
