Way out here in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CANADA, a lot of people think its
pretty funny to wear really tight pastel colored t-shirts and listen to
classics like Falco 3's "Rock Me Amadeus". I think like the decade itself the
80's trend will pass. Tell me, are there any Value Villages in the States?
Someone please respond.

I've personally never heard of Value Village, and we are awfully close to
Canada after all. WHY?

Value Villages are like K-marts I guess, but everything is used (even the
underwear) and everything is super cheap. I myself must admit to buying the odd
men's coat for that oh so chic "I don't care how I look" look. Kimba, what kind
of music do you listen to?

Sorry about not responding sooner...the Holidays were hell! :)
I listen to just about everything (but country and rap...shudder). I guess my
personal faves would be what everyone tends to term "alternative". and you?

I listen to ST. Etienne, Ride, Pulp, Stereolab and other "alternative" acts. I
also am trying to buy more classical disks like Dvorak. I never did like 80's
music much, even in the 80's. (well OK, I must admit that I did envy my cousin
when he got to see Platinum Blonde live) I think someone should set up a topic
called "British? alternative" or something like that.

I feel your pain. I once listened to them too. It's over now, though.
Everything's going to be alright.

I didn't have cable in the 80's. *sniff*. Did they actually play what people
requested? Did they play any Rush? Damn today's eMpTV!

Does anyone have info on ordering the "Totally 80's" CD
collection that they used to advertise on TV all the time? I
kept thinking about ordering it, but now I haven't seen the ad in
a long time, and I wonder if it's too late.

I have an I.R.S. Merchandising catalog that has "Totally 80's" in it. I think
the catalog has expired, but if you can get a hold of a more recent one, I'm
sure it would still be in there. By the way, I've got both "Totally '80's"
and "Awesome '80's," and they're both fantastic!

I have the phone number for that around here, somewhere. I've been
putting off calling it for awhile, too. Now if I can only find it . . .

Hmm. That was the third record I ever owned, after Billy Joel's
"Nylon Curtain" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller." I liked it so much
I bought the CD version of it.

re 88- I liked it, too, but it got a lot of radio airplay and I began
to get sick of it. Bonnie Tyler has a nice voice, but it can be
irritating at times. ;)

Destroy All Monsters" or "Five Year Plan (FYP)"? you must've hung out
with or been a skateboarder yourself, because ive never met anyone
who knows Jody Foster's Army who wasnt into skateboarding. Brian Brannon

Who else misses the Police? Sure, Sting's great and all, but it's just
not the same without Andy and Stewart around.

Miss the Police? What can you miss about a group when you have their
CDs?

The view from today has me thinking that Stewart Copeland was the real
genius behind the Police. I saw a bit of concert footage and the bass
was OK, albeit a little clunky, the guitar was OK, but that patented
Stewart Copeland rhythm was happening.
Anybody else got any Klark Kent records?

re#95: I meant "miss" as in "because as a group they aren't putting out
any new records." Although, Andy Summers has had a few cool instrumental
albums lately, Stewart COpeland was(is?) in a band called Animal Logic, and
of course, there's Sting, who some of my friends say has gotten better since
the Police broke up.

Stewart Copeland has done a *bunch* of movie soundtracks since the Police
broke up.
