Looks like not many users are using dialin anymore.

I am dialed in (right now- I almost always dial in, but you are right, I have
not had a busy signal in ages). While dialed in, I cannot telnet out of grex
to any of three sites, cannot ssh to the one I tried, and using lynx I can
access grex but not two other places.

response 81 of 405: Mark Unseen   Apr 20 16:32 UTC 2004

Why should I waste the new computer on telneting into Grex?
I still use the $100 computer (Origianal over $4,500) for the $10
terminal purpose--I dial-in.

I couldn't telnet in. Dialing in, I see I'm the only one on. Looks like
the internet connection is broken again.

I could not telnet or ssh in all day. Just got home to try dial in and it
works.

It appears that nobody can access backtalk either, since agora has been
visited by only those of us who dial in today. Do we really need 4 dialin
lines for davel, cmgee, tpryan, rcurl, and keesan? Hi all! I wonder what
is happening to all the mail today.

So, Staff, what's the problem (besides that Grex is off the web)?

response 89 of 405: Mark Unseen   Apr 21 10:31 UTC 2004

I hadn't been able to telnet in to grex from about Sunday night/Monday morning
to a few minutes ago.

I called our ISP, but they don't see anything 'wrong', just lots of data
traversing the wire. We'll continue to work on it.

Well,I have found that on some unix machines (HP-UX is a prime example)
that console terminal hangs are far more common than system hangs.
It also happened to me on a solaris box. Console login broke,
but I could ssh in.

any downtime.

Some versions of Linux I've worked with were also prone to the console
hanging or getting stuck in unusable states.
