Looks like there is always going to be plenty of thinking
and work to be done. It seems strange that while we become
more connected we need to be less connected.

In #66, one of the things listed is 'sleep".. what is that, exactly?

Thats funny--I thought that the item response you were looking
at referred to a sleep-starved staff person or something, and was
going to add a smartass response.
Then I looked and saw what you were asking--!
Sleep is a system call and shell function you can use to suspend
yourself for a certain about of time, doing just about nothing.
Sleep is useful in a shell script of you want to look at
something on the screen, wait a while, then clear it and do it all
over again.

OK, where is the item for contributions to the computers for deserving
types? I have a contribution, about 50-60 new, unformatted 5 1/4" High
Density floppies, covered with dust (wrapped in plastic, fortunately).
Who should I give them to?

Probably these would do better (but not exclusively) in the JCC items
Grex offers ('nother one rsn, btw) ... as wellas the rehab machines.
The 1.2 Meg floppies tend to outclass most of the floppies that
rehab has ..unless you have, also, 50-60 1.2 meg floppy drives to
go with the floppies .....<g>.
email danr or popcorn for the pickup/dropoff info.

Gleep, no; mail steve or someone about JCC stuff. I'm still trying
to get out of the JCC business. :)

It's from the MythAdventures series by Robert Asprin. There's this
dragon that doesn't say anything but "gleep" for several books running.
Its name is, consequently, gleep.

Um, OTOH Gleep narrates a significant section of _Myth Inc. Link_ - &
possibly more (I haven't kept up very well). However, his inability to
communicate with other *characters* continues unimpaired.

The rumor is that he moved to New York. At one time, I lived a few
blocks from him.

Suggestions:
have the newuser .cfonce file set edalways as a default.
extend the menu program's choice for B)BS for another two screens.
The first screen would list broad subject areas for conferences, with
a command that gives the output for "help conference". The second
screen would list the conference within the chosen subgenre.

Edalways is actually on the drawing board. It's waiting for some
changes to newuser, which currently doesn't set the user's terminal
type correctly during the first login session. (This means that,
the way things are currently set up, edalways would force newbies
into visual editors, which would barf with error messages saying
that their terminal type is set up wrong.)
