(Um, Valerie, copy that apology from yesterday, OK?)

It hasn't been written yet, but I'll announce it widely when it is.

Re 78: Dave, I laughed when I read that. No need to apologize!

Okey dokey, the initial version of my "set_perms" script is ready. If you
type "!set_perms" at an "Ok:" prompt, this runs a script that asks you some
questions about how you want your perms set, and then it sets them for you.
It sets your perms both for your current logon session and also it makes a
permanent change to your .login and/or .profile file, so your perms are set
the way you wanted when you log on in the future.

I've tested it and it worked OK for me, but this is still somewhat
experimental. Please yell if you have suggestions or requests, or if it
does anything strange when you run it.

The source is in the text files /usr/local/grex-scripts/set_perms and
/usr/local/grex-scripts/set_perms.awk. Feel free to look at those and make
suggestions. They definitely need commenting, and they can probably get
by with a lot fewer quotation marks.

I haven't yet changed the default from "only writes" to "writes and tels".
Once this set_perms script works OK, I'll go ahead and make the change.

Dokey okey, the default is now to allow write, chats, and tels. If you want
to to set your account to do something different, type "!set_perms". That
will ask you questions about how you want your settings to be set, and then
it will set them.

Popcorn, thanks! I really like the change, and I'm glad people who don't
have an easy script. cCoolness abounds!

and precise and optional.
