Quick quisetion: Do you get a number for a letter being the right letter in
the right place, or just being the right letter?

Right letter in right place. The rules are in /u/rcurl/lettermatch.rules
(these were written for the 5 letter game, but add 1 to get 6).

Well, having it in a file unfortunately doesn't help me, since every time I
try to view a file with "more" it says it can't run it. *shrug*

lilmo, your not being able to read the letter.match file is not due
to permission problems on that file. You could try another pager
like 'less' or, since letter.match is a relatively short file, you
could even use 'cat'. I wonder what's wrong with more? It works
fine for me...even from a bbs prompt without a !

Mark's problem is that he doesn't have a .profile, and hence no path
to goodies like more. A staff member could give Mark a .profile, or
he could copy someone's (mine is permitted, and sets pine for mail and
pico for default editor, and term=vt100).

*sigh* That sounds reasonable. Thanks.

Hmmm...can't accept two guesses in a row from the same person. Now
if Rane had made a guess in :739...

Didn't you see the word "editor" in #739?

Re: 745-746... That's why I didn't pick either word. I figure if
I get into the business of picking and choosing people's guesses from
such responses, I'll wind up making *someone* angry. As far as I'm
concerned, if you want to use a word in a narrative response as a
guess, please make some indication which one. Other "scorers" may
treat this issue differently, of course.
  Thanks.

The summary of guesses is in /u/kentn/letter.match
