snarf's resp:6 :: "Marie Brennan" is actually "Maire Brennan" who is
the lead singer of Clannad, and the older sister of Enya. I sat
literally at her feet during a very cramped concert at the old Ark
coffeehouse, which was indeed a house, during their first US tour
in 1979.

I'd suggest looking for the following Clannad albums:
    CLANNAD 2
    DULAMAN
    CRANN ULL
    CLANNAD IN CONCERT
    maybe FUAIM
After that the band went all New-Age and my heart was broken.

I'd heard positive things from Celtic music fans about Clannad without
hearing Ken's "until they went new age" caveat, and years ago that led
me to make the mistake of checking their Greatest Hits CD out of the
 Ann Arbor Public Library.

I can remember few music-listening occasions where what I got was so
different than what I was expecting, but with the possible exception
of one or two tracks the music on that CD was godawful treacle.
I've shied away from anything Clannad-related ever since. Even with
Ken's list of good albums, I think I was put off so strongly that I
doubt I'll ever give them another shot.

Wow Arianna Savall is awesome! Bella Terra!
I didn't like Steeleye Span except for 1 or 2 songs..too folkish..
Haven't tried the other albums..Arianna will last me a long long time :)
Almost all the songs in that album are fantastic! Its not as
Hijo De La luna because there arent very many high notes..its more soft..
*sighs happily* thanks krj!!
