unease (...what carson seems to be experiencing...hang in there carson,
it helped me at first to go back over a couple rounds of the
game to see what more expert players were using as logic and
strategy. Keeping good records helps me, as do five or six
different dictionaries.)

The logic is in the number of zeros which preceded the two.
I'm thinking of a word which I'm sure you may have heard, and just to get my
kicks, the numbers of letters is six.

Right, given the large number of zero guesses, you could eliminate a
lot of letters from those ones and twos, narrowing the possibilites a
lot. You can also eliminate letters from those ones and twos and
threes if you are positive what one or more letters are. Then you need
to pick up on certain combinations of letters that occur regularly in
the English language (a book on elementary cryptanalysis and code-
breaking might be enlightening). The motive here isn't to send a
message (per se) but to make the guessing of a single word difficult.
This limits the kind of word that "lasts a long time" in this game.
Words with common letters in common positions or with common
combinations of letters should fall quickly (though I've been surprised
at what common words don't from time to time--a word that belongs to a
large "family" of similar words, maybe?). Given this, you can expect
weird words a lot of the time...so you start to develop an eye for the
unusual while scanning your dictionaries...
