Everyone is named slirpa today, so we can either suspend the "no two
guesses in a row by the same person rule", or not play. I will go for
suspending the rule while we are all sharing the same name.

Hmmm...either someone changed things so slirpa isn't here anymore,
or I've got my picospan header set up so I'm not being annoyed by
that. What I see is: rubber (kentn); skills (vishnu); rubies (carson)
things (kentn)

Oh, and excise (other); hedges (vishnu). Let us know when things
go back to normal...

I have invoked the revealing script. The responses in 579 should have been
rubber 1 (kentn)
skills 0 (vishnu)
rubies 1 (carson)
The next five responses are:
excise 0 (other)
hedges 3 (vishnu)
things 0 (kentn)
fallow 0 (rcurl)
flower 1 (carson)
(source was not a guess, because it was a 7 letter word with punctiation (!))

Perhaps cerebus is confused by the rules of this game...
If excise has no letters in common... and things has none...
<H><E>dg<E><S> cannot possibly have 3...

The only letter in "hedges" that has been "counted out" of its
position is the final "s". Therefore, you can look at the combinations
of the first five letters taken three at a time as possible patterns.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the rules...the numbers of correct letters
given are for the number of letters correctly in *position* not the
number of letters correct regardless of position. So...permutations
are right out.
Please *do not* construe any six letter words in the narrative
portion of this response as guesses. My guess follows on a line by
itself.

Apr 2 19:14 UTC 1994 |
The rules are in /home/rcurl/lettermatch.rules
The are written for the 5 letter version. Everyone here got so expert
at that, we graduate to 6 (actually, we graduated to 28, but let's not
do that one again).
(There's 5 in the pile, so I can't go. Let's have some action here!)
