I wear a size 13 shoe as well... I wear solid black tennis shoes.. all of the
time. Every single day. So I put a lot of wear in my shoes. I have been
buying Rockports for the last few years... after about a year, they are
typically dead. I used to by Reebok's before those, and they lasted about
as long, but the Rockports are a bit more comfortable, and only tend to cost
about $5-$10 more than the Reeboks when I get them on sale (which is the only
time I'll buy them)

Running shoes I can get. Boots with a decent amount of cushion are much
tougher.
In other bummed news, I had to cut down a 50 foot oak which was probably the
best tree on my property. It was too close to the house.

I wear 13s, and I usually just wear one pair of shoes until they wear out.

I had an exhausting and stressful weekend. Luckily work helped to lower the
stress. (Scarey to hear that from a person with two jobs)

My watch is dead beyond revival. I tried a new battery, and that didn't
do anything for it.

Okay...
so, That Guy arrived back in town on Saturday, and since I was going
*out* of town that wrecked any plans of picking him up (cause well, I'd
made these plans weeks ago and I wasn't about to drop them). <sighs>
Which also left him stranded at the train station...
- apparently early Sunday morning my 'car alarm' (according to the
police, I don't actually have a car alarm it was just the horn) started
going off. The neighbors complained and for some unknown reason the
cops impounded the car instead of alerting me (my apartment is in the
back of the building and I didn't hear a thing). So after MUCH hassle
(though I am extremely grateful to three people for coming to my aid,
one VERY much unexpected) I get my car back. (remember that bit in the
happy item about my car horn no longer working... make sense now?)
- Oh, and I'm getting sick... slight chest congestion and coughing with
a sore throat developing.

Back to stupid clerical/somebody else's crap work all day, with a little
bit of Big Evil Report thrown in. Sigh. I think I probably don't get to
do any more chemistry until I get back from winter break. :(
Oh well, the weekend at least was nice and restful.

re 505: May it burn well for you then, or make some good
furniture. Shame about cutting it down, root problems or overhead
problems?

Had to cut the tree down because it was right next to the house, which would
probably lead to the following problems:
1. Root damage to foundation
2. Trunk actually making contact with roof edge eventually (in high winds
could hit house).
3. Falling limbs on roof.
The tree was less than 3 feet away. :( Still, it was a nice tree. I've
still got the humungous old apple tree, a couple tall spruces, and the
arborvitae (which themselves are bit too close too), but the oak was a nice
tree.

(Sarah- apparently it was off by then but they still impounded it (the
time sheet I got when I paid for the car said they arrived back at
Sakstrup's at 9:42 am). Given how it was handled, I'm looking into the
matter.)

I am going to be working a 10 hour day. Bah. I am feeling homesick. Bah. I
am feeling like a loser. Bah.
On another note, I still have a horrid headache from hitting my head on the
door opening on Saturday. Bah. A little late to be going to the doc's office
since I am fine other than a headache. More than likely I jiggled my brain
a bit too much than it likes.

Why in hell did they impound it, and not notify you *BEFORE* the fact?????
Did they make no attempt to knock on your door or anything?

the reminder -- perhaps I'll post one, unless somebody beats me
to it. (You might want to post one, for example.)

IBB even though I like my own new apartment....Precious (the elder cat) has
lifted the restriction on Tanis (the younger cat) and he is allowed to show
me affection now. He loves me. He wubs me. Typically at 4am, when I'm
sleeping, and he wakes me up by rubbing his head on my hands, cheeks, and
walks over me to get every part several times. Then pawing at my hand when
I don't "particiapte" as he would like. Then, the 12 lb 10 month old bohemith
lies on me, or very close to me, purrs like a harley motor, and he goes back
to sleep, leaving me awake, slightly agitated, and missing a quarter of the
bed.
This will take adjustment. I love him. But oh boy...

Richard- how would 'booting' it help when the horn was going off? The
car was not illegally parked, just a lose fuse or something set off the
horn. Though, on my papers it was listed as 'car alarm' (I don't have
one...) And I see no reason to share an exact price, but I'll tell you
this, it was over $100. Ann Arbor isn't THAT much cheaper than NYC...
The police, as far as I can tell, made absolutely NO effort to get
ahold of me (or even find out who I WAS) until after they towed the car.
IBB- I'm officially 'sick' but not quite sick enough to take time off
from work. <sighs>
<gets out her kickin' boots> Where is he, Trish?
