This sucks. I donm't use it as a main form of communication either. I'm leaving
this stupid conference. It sucks. I'm only resopnding to items that were

Facelift, I understand where you're coming from, but if you've been

I've decided to return, though I'm still angry, because I have nothing better
to do. I saw a thing about mercedes lacky today, can't remember where (That
IS the author, right?) and the 3 things that stick most vividly in my mind
about it are.
1) She LOFVES to write, Its like her favorite thing in the world.
2)Her nickname to her friends is "Misty"
3) When she went to get contact lenses, her optometrist nearly exploded when
he found out he was making contacts for THE Mercedes Lackey. She hopes some
day, (jokngly) that people will recognize her in grocery stores like they do
Stephen King.

I met Misti years ago, when she and Leslie Fish and Leigh Ann Hussey and
C J Cheryh were all at NorEastCon (Boscone does Worldcon, I believe). She
plays a lovely 12 string, was delightful company, and has a pleasant if
unassuming voice. As far as I know, she wasn't known as a writer yet. By
the way, Leigh Ann introduced me to Diana Paxton, who is also delightful. I
met MZB in the middle of a political argument. I'll argue with almost anyone.
I like her, she's crusty.
If I had tried to meet any of these people as "pros", I would have been far
too scared. They really are human (except MZB. If she were human, she
wouldn't be still alive.)
