Those of you who are young never had to live through the Barry Manilow
era, when big nose wrote such stuff as "I write the songs" and
"looks like we made it" Be thankful!

Barry Manilow did not write _I Write The Songs_. It was Bruce Johnston of
the Beach Boys who wrote that particular song.

Okay but it was Barry who made "I write the songs" a #1 hit...he still
plays it at the casinos (only place he can play these days) All the
40 and 50 plus ladies still swoon and faint over him.

Which reminds me... Beach Boys must also die. They are 400 years old. Did you
know that my first concert was John Denver when I was 6 years old? Rocky
Mountain Hiiiiigh (in Coloradoooo).... ::waving cigarette lighter::

I'm amazed no-one mentioned "Stairway to Heaven" yet. If every copy vanished
overnight, I would be very happy.

Are you kidding? _Stairway to Heaven_ is one of the absolute classics of
the rock era! Philistine!

I suggest that we do the following to bmoran for that last comment--
1. Moe his bread severely
2. 125 lashes with a wet noodle.
3. Make him listen to all of the Bee Gees disco era music. Maybe then he'd
apprieciate fine music like "Stairway to Heaven".

I don't particularly care for Barry Manilow, but I like his song "Copacabana".
Maybe it's just 'cause of good marching band memories. Dunno... =)
I also turn the station whenever they play all of the *stupid* remakes (all
25 of them) of "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ugh!

Most of the shit around today will live for two weeks.

I like music in almost every genre but there are songs which make me want
to scratch my ears off. Examples: "On Bended Knee", All songs by Blessed
Union of Souls, and all songs by Phil Collins.

Ok, I'll explain the "Moe his bread" comment.
When I baked my first loaf of bread, the recipe told me to stick 2
fingers into the dough, and let it rise for 2 hours. I did it, and
it looked like Moe had stopped by. (You've seen this on the 3 Stooges
where Moe usually pokes at someone's eyes with 2 fingers) hence
"Moe the bread"

Wait a minute. Let me get this strait. You actually put two fingers into
the bread before you baked it? You must have been listening to "Stairway"
and didn't read the recipe right.
I guess my aversion to that piece of musical drek comes from
WLLZ's gross overplaying of it in the late 70's through the mid 80's.
Hell, even a mac user would be tired of it under those conditions.

Could that be "From a Distance" by Bette Midler? The songs that really bug
me in supermarkets are the cheesy, muzak versions of classics like Aerosmith.
Remember Big Boy, Valerie? <g>

I love "Sweet Emotion". Sometimes I hear Led Zeppelin on muzak, and
occasioanlly Abba. Both dieties as far as I am concerned ::putting up flame

Sorry to be late with this, but back to the area of #8 (or so):
One of my speech/forensics teachers had us listen to Shatner's *dramatic
reading* of Lucy In the Sky. <egad> But his worst has to be Tambourine Man;
half sung, half spoken.
I was going to mention Nimoy, too. <eeeep>
Country music gives me a rash.
ref #41: I like Billy Joel, too. One of the most talented and least
appreciated lyricists of our time.

Sounds to me like we need to change the way radio stations air the music.
On another note, how about when you hear a song and you cannot remember what
it is called. It bugs you for the next 4 to 6 hours. A friend of mine called
my answering machine to tell me what the name of a song was after we had
spent the evening together and were both on our way home. It saved me 4 to
6 hours of frustration.
I agree concerning Michael Bolton. Thankfully my radio station doesn't
subject me to songs in that category or most of the other ones that people
have objected to.

Not to mention Mariah Carey (blecch)... =( The one thing that really bugs
me about some stations is when they play a new song and don't give you the
name or title. Ugh! Sometimes, I'm interested in who it is, especially if
they sound familiar.

Here we have FM100, which is the Elton John/Billy Joel/Rod Stewart
station...but I call it the Phil Collins station, because they play every
damn song by him several times a day. I liked Phil in the 80s but now hate
him since he sent his wife A FAX to tell her he was divorcing her. What a
dork.
