As I remember Village Kitchen, tehre were two general seating
spaces, one with movable tables (to the right) and the booths
(to the left).
Might work if we confiscate one side or another ...

C,H,I,? - but I'm not likely to be there any time in the near future. I've
definitely found Zing's noise level to be a major problem; odd that those
other customers don't find Grex's noise (much louder than theirs, normally)
to be bad enough to move elsewhere ...

No, they just talk more loudly, too, same as we do.

Another agenda item: Getting an upgrade for our Hayes Optima modems.
Someone said it would cost about $50 to upgrade from v.fast to v.34, and
v.34 is much less likely to hang up the phone all by itself.

It's OK, Chris. You're allowed to write out your opinions the long way.
The EZ-Think entry above was intended as a way to make it easy to create
an EZ-Summary of the opinions of the folks who go to these meetings.

John Remmers suggested that it would be nice if HVCN people got to
know Grex people, maybe by attending a board meeting, so I sent a note
to the HVCN e-mail mailing list, inviting people to this meeting.
(In the message, I pointed out that we would be mostly doing internal
Grex stuff for the first part of the meeting, and that the HVCN-related
stuff was likely to be discussed some time after 9, so it might be more
interesting for them to show up closer to 9).

The guest account proposal was tabled last time, to give folks a chance to
read up on it I guess, so hopefully that will get a vote this time around.
Also, I gather someone is proposing buying one GVC modem for the two free
phone lines, to see if its okay, and if it is, buying another in the future.
I think buying two modems now is reasonable. If a dealer can be found with
a 30-day MBG, great, but if not, worst case, Grex could probably sell it for
25% below cost.
I don't think it's worth letting an extra phone line sit idle another month
to see how they work. A modem costs more than a month's phone bill, but I
don't see what a month of use will tell you that you can't already find out
from users like M-Net (they've got 16 or so). I'm not saying there aren't
questions, but if there are, they should be asked before *any* purchase.

One other item for new business, I wonder if you could vote on whether or
not to get a free listing in Computer Shopper, as discussed in item 113
of the previous co-op conference. If nobody else wants to, I volunteer
to enter the info, and give the phone number and account info to the
board or publicity coordinator, so it can flagged it as "current" every
three months (that's what CS requests). Also, remember that the
description field proposed below will probably only have the first three
items listed.
< 1> Title: Grex
< 2> City: Ann Arbor
< 3> State: MI
< 4> Country: USA
< 5> Sysop:
< 6> Phone: (313) 761-3000
< 7> Hardware: Unix
< 8> Software: Picospan
< 9> Modem: 8 lines, Supra 2400
<10> Started:
<11> Fee: No fee
<12> Desc: Conferences, chat, Internet E-Mail, telnet cyberspace.org.

Unix is an OS, but the multiple choice answers they gave listed
OSs as much as hardware features. Unix was one of the choices,
and I figured it would be more meaningful to readers than filling
in "Sun 3/60" under "Other." The options they gave were as follows:
< 1 > MS-DOS 8088 < 5 > Amiga
< 2 > MS-DOS 80286 < 6 > Macintosh
< 3 > MS-DOS 80386 < 7 > Unix
< 4 > MS-DOS 80486 < 8 > Other

The board voted to approve this. There were some minor wording changes,
but they were not made based n the options listed in #69.
The response was changed to "Sun 3/260 running Unix".
This is still option 7 as far as I am concerned.
The details are in the minutes of the board meeting which I will post
in a separate item (according to tradition). Hmm. it's a tradition I never
had fully explained to me. I think the answer is to make it easier to find the
minutes alone by browsing the Conference. So I will follow that...
Look for the minutes in a new item.

The minutes are also maintained in separate files in a directory I
can never find again. That is probably what instigates the separate
item posting too - but find a Grex historian - I'm just speculating.
