I think I read maybe 5% of what pops up on my screen when I read Grex
these days. I skim. One of the things I skim for is author names -
there are some people more useful to read than others. This isn't
always because their posts are smarter or better. Sometimes I'm just
looking for posts that are short and on-topic - they give me a good
idea of what topic the conversation has drifted to. If I'm interested
I'll back up and read more.
I suppose that if I felt any compulsion to read everything on my screen
then I might use a twit filter. I coded one into Backtalk because
there are whole populations of bbs users (mostly people from the Well)
who believe it is impossible to bbs without twit filters (except that
they call them "bozo filters"). I personally don't care to use them,
but I certainly consider them harmless.
However, perhaps there should be a ban on *announcing* that you are
filtering some particular person. That always seems petty and rude to
me, and always makes me suspect that they aren't doing so. It's hard
for me to imagine that anyone delivering such an insult would be
indifferent enough to the reaction to not look.

resp:48 So, I may assume, by your reply to my question, that you see
yourself in some sort of educative role.
In that case, why, then, do you persist in referring to us all on such
negative terms if, in fact, you are attempting to "educate" us. If
you are a true teacher, surely you are aware that students learn more
by positive rather than negative reinforcement.

Rane says he thinks most of his students are dumbasses. So, Jamie is
just imitating Rane, which, for Jamie, is a step in the right direction.

resp:56 Jamie, you can't, in good conscience, compare us with your
*dog*. Besides, even dogs learn better with positive reinforcement.
I'll bet your dog *still* pees the rug.
By the way, group, something has occurred to me during this
discussion. Since Jamie is constantly on grex, does that not make
him, like the rest of us, a grexer also? IOW, isn't Jamie, in effect,
putting himself down whenever he puts grexers down? Just a thought.

Maybe they do know what they're doing. Scary thought, eh?
Psst, morwen, Jamie wants to be accepted by Grex. That's what all this
is about. Think of him as a big-eyed orphan child shivering in the
cold outside the nice warm house and longing to be one of the happy
people inside. All of his blustering and bravado is meant to conceal
that, but he isn't fooling anyone. Try and be nicer to him!

Re #64: You mean "try TO be nice to him". Or should we try him,
and after his conviction or aquittal, be nice to him regardless?
I'm sure he could get a defense attorney, but where would we find
an unbiased jury?
It might be easier to make it a bench trial before the painting
on the wall. Nothing like a hanging judge.
