I guess I always think it is a little funny when someone names their
car although I dont think there is anything wrong with it. Like me,
when I named my car, it really was just a fun inside joke.

What bothers me though, is when someone has a boat that is more than a
daysailer or a canoe and they DONT name it. hehehe. I guess that is
silly but to me, large boats should be named. *shrug*

My cousin has a 26' Columbia Mark II named "Otis B. Driftwood" with sail
number 570. The name, for those who don't know it, is of a Marx Brothers
character.

Yeah, my folks used to have a boat named "Abraxas" (viking 27') but
they sold it and now they have a 30' ft Redwing named "Sora."

Anyhow, that name sounds familiar. They must race the "Otis B.
Driftwood" I am *sure* I have seen it before. Does your cousin do the
Tuesday night DRYA races?

The Otis B. is a frequent participant in Lake St. Clair races, and has
won the Port Huron to Mackinac on occasion as well. Or at least her
skipper has. Abraxas sounds familiar. I think I might have seen her on
one of my rare appearances on the Otis B's decks.

Yeah my folks do the Lake St. Clair races often. They've also done the
Port Huron to Mackinac on both Abraxas and Sora. They just put Sora in
the water this past weekend.

Haha, Ok. But the guy he shares the boat with might like another name.

"Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe," starring Jesse Ventura, is a
remarkably bad (amusing bad) science-fiction movie.

I prefer "They Live", with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, personally. ;)

"They Live" is far better than "Abraxas." I've seen them both.

"They Live" is where Roddy's character and his buddy get X-ray shades
of sorts that allow them to see these mechanoid aliens, right? I've
never seen the other film, Abraxas, but if the above descrip
fits "They Live," I've seen it.

"What is there in a name?" However the sweetest name ever I heard ,which makes
ripples to many hearts, is DEBAYAN.Any doubt?

Our first VW van, being orange, was the Pumpkin. I don't think any other
names ever stuck to any other cars--they just get referred to by owner or
model. My own car is definitely a she, but is being coy about telling me
her name.
My computer is missionimpossible, missimpossible for short. :)
In general, I'm more prone to re-naming people than naming things. Right
meeg? :)

Well my most recent car was named "Pink" even thought it was peach in color.
I actually hope to own a bright pink car at some point. The computer at home
is named "Mr. Blue"

My uncle had a cat that responded to "Ornery Critter". He called it
that because it was a pest, but after a while he forgot it's real
name, so "Ornery Critter" it was.
