Re 50, 51, 53: Thanks!
Re 49:
I went to Huron, and studied with Tammy Kosinski. Louis Stout is indeed still
around and ornery, and he still gives the occassional lesson even though he
can't play anymore. I've been afraid to take one with him, since I probably
lack the self-esteem to come out of it feeling good, but I've heard all the
stories. His health has been fluctuating the past several months, but right
now he's doing okay. The current U-M horn professor is Soren Hermansson, and
I'm really enjoying studying with him. Mr. Stout doesn't approve of him
at all, but then again he hasn't really approved of any of professors that
have succeeded him... (and perhpas not without just cause, since after all
he was the grand master of all horn teachers).

Wow! I studied with Tammi, too. Yeah, once you've had a really supportive
teacher like that, I'd think it would be hard to switching to a teacher like
Stout. He was my solo judge at solo and ensemble my freshman year, and he
scared the bejeebies out of me. Still does, really.
At Pioneer we had about a half and half Stout kids/Tammi kids section. In
general, Tammi's students did better than Stout kids. Stout also tended to
kick people out of his studio. :) Albritton always insisted when asked,
though, that Stout was the best horn teacher he'd ever heard of. Maybe so.
Do you know Katy Ambrose? She transferred to UM from state a couple of years
ago, and I was in Michigan Youth Band with her. Say hi to her for me, if you
see her. :)

We don't much do farewells here, but I must note that today both Milton Berle
and Dudley cashed out and left the game.

Hi, I'm Rick! I've found it impossible to keep up with BBS on two
conferencing systems, so I don't read much here, but you'll see me pop in
occassionally. I forget almost every item, especially those involving serious
discussion.
I have been Grexing for a long time. I'm a new daddy, my little girl is 9
weeks old and getting cuter all the time. See www.emilyroot.com for pictures
and whatnot. I stay at home doing web development (cold fusion, PHP) and
playing with Emily.

I like the videos, Ric. The one with you is really good-- turned out
witty and almost looks like a cute "America's Funniest Home Videos"
clip or something like that.

Re 55:
Wow, yeah I know Katy! I love her, she's the greatest person! I'll be seeing
her this very afternoon, so I'll tell her you said hi. Did you know Mr.
Albritton is retiring this year? Mr. Roberts at Huron would always refer
people seeking horn lessons to Willard Zirk, but he (Zirk) closed his
private studio a couple of years ago so I think Tammy's at the top of his
list now.
I played with Stout one summer in the Ann Arbor Civic Band and was
terrified, but I think he must not have been in teaching mode because he
was incredibly friendly and didn't yell at me even once :)

I knew it was a good thing to wait until the conf was restarted. I
kept falling off the face of the planet and would return with an
mountain full of posting to wade through.

Hi! I'm Bogdan, 24, Romanian as origin, but right now living in Germany (for
4 months now). Graduated this year, and now working as a sysadmin/programmer
for a small company in Cologne.
Just recently I got a job offer for A&M Texas University, but I think I
prefer Europe's charm.
Anyways, like Grex a lot, and spring (agora) rocks.
