This is the only cramps topic on grex, but there are 72 rodent topics. Why?

Obviously rodents are more endlessly fascinating than cramps. But
do they last as long?

And are there drugs to masque the symptoms?

Does picospan change conciousness?

I'd rather have a keyboard in front of me than a pico labatomy.

I'd rather have the Father of Picospan in this conference than
 200 hippies!~

Is a pico brain required for a pico labatomy?

response 60 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 29 16:36 UTC 1995

I have a question: (my right arm has been raised for days...)
how do I make this stupid prompt > ress Spacebar for more, q to quit <
disappear when I press the Spacebar for more? so's it won't be grafted
to the next text or post??? Do you know what I mean. I think the slowness
of this system wouldn't bother me quite so much if I didn't have to read
around this prompt-thing...

(whew!)....

MARCUS WATTS WHITE COURTESY TELEPHONE PLEASE?

response 62 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 29 22:07 UTC 1995

Sounds like you have some terminal-type weirdness, Mary. Does
Grex know what kind of terminal emulation you are using? Usually
vt102?
mdw
response 63 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 30 02:24 UTC 1995

Simplest way is to tell grex your terminal is dumb. Then, instead of
the annoying prompt, you should get a simple melodious beep.

response 64 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 30 02:57 UTC 1995

There is a pun in there somewhere about a chronic
condition of mine: terminal dumbness.

hehehehehe....that's the pun.

nephi
response 65 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 30 08:00 UTC 1995

If you set your terminal to dumb, though, you won't be able to use
the editor, Pico, or the mail program, Pine.

Another way to get around the problem is to edit your .cfonce file.
Replace the word "menumore" with "more".

Menumore is a dumb program that just *loves* to gobble text. More
doesn't do this.

mdw
response 66 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 30 08:29 UTC 1995

That's true. But would you *want* to use pico on a very slow link?
nephi
response 67 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 30 08:56 UTC 1995

(My guess is that someone that does not know how to change his
pager also does not know how to use any of the other editors
offered here. Besides, Pico doesn't run *that* slow here. I
use it myself.)

grex is so fucking slow (shuttup now children) that i could
rewrite the whole buddhist concept of time using grex as a
definition of a kalpa so that instead of the definition
revolving around a butterfly beating its wings against a stone
well, i would say "the time that it takes grex to log you
on at 2 pm pacific daylight time" and i promise you, children,
that there is not enough money in the world, nor enough contributors,
and not even enough brilliant brain cells shining in the most
noble brain of marcus watts to fix it.

there.
that was slightly Spanish.
do you feel better now, stevie?

bunn
response 69 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 30 14:57 UTC 1995

Yah!! Humdog!!! (what she said!)

I did try to change my terminal type in the "3) change thing" menu
and got stopped in a construction zone with what looked like 17 men
supervising one poor jerk digging a hole, and everybody trying to get
into the left lane at the last possible minute. Got some friendly e-mail
about changing the terminal type... but my response seems to have gotten
lost in the ether.

I *thought * my terminal type was *dumb* but maybe it's just me.

Vsclyne with a vote. Hueeeey, and you thought I was
dangerous with a mere editor.

nephi
response 73 of 107: Mark Unseen   Mar 31 07:29 UTC 1995

No bunn, it's just you. I checked and saw that your terminal was set
to vt100 and your editor to pico. Now you can change that annoying,
gobbling prompt by typing !pico .cfonce at almost any prompt (except > ).
Replace the word menumore with more. Simple, eh?
