The closest I've heard to a German taboo expression involving a pig was in
Eastern Germany, where a female member of the Communist party was often
referred to as "eine rote Sau", or "a red sow". Although this was certainly
perceived as being insulting, the word "red" carried a much stronger meaning
than the word "sow".

I confess to some pleasure from the stinging rhetoric of a rattling
oath in the mouth of a truckmen and teamsters. How laconic and brisk
it is by the side of a page of the North American Review.

Why would somebody who is anti-PC be concerned about reporting a
bookstore that had played music with the word "fuck" in it?

Doesnt make sense, unless that person has their own, private, version
of what is and is not acceptable.

Yes, everyone does. The difference is whether or not you believe that it
should apply to everyone else, too.

re #52: What is wrong with rejecting an externally imposed set of
"rights and wrongs" for one you actually have thought through?

Actually, some NA Indian tribes *do* have 'swear' words, loud expletives.
Some are undefined (meaningless), and some are just loud underdefinitions.
(ie, "Tun CHe!" -- 'That Horse!')
What 'western' society considers taboo all NA Indian tribes (that I know of)
don't. Excretion .. et al. Just facts of life.
Also, the less violent tribes don't even have the meaningless 'swear' words...
only them more 'warring' tribes do.

for not recognizing it.

On a side note, the South U. Community Newscenter has bowed to the pressure
of Mr. Tyler and closed its doors for good.
Nice going, Tim.

Bowed to the PRESSURE or the PRESENCE?

I doubt they would bow in his presence, especially after he makes a snide
little comment or two.

I wonder if others note that the same people who used to snipe at 'hooligan'
for his allegedly uncalled for & rude behavior are the ones who now try to
'bash' tnt?

Then, of course, there's the possibility that the behaviour is
considered rude by such people, and that they would 'bash'
anyone behaving that way.
I can't say that I noticed anything really unusual, lately. 'Tho
I did notice that 'tnt' seemed to 'take his hair down' and start
behaving more like that 'other person' from MNET
You have to admit, Tim, that you are good at inciting verbal riots.
