Let's see. After #45, we know the the word has to be one of:

   sp?r?
   spo??

Only words fitting one of these patterns can have all the correct
scores. Thus jep's guess of "spoon" is possible, and all the rest are
wrong.

If we consider the possibilities for the third letter in "sp?r?", we see
none of aeio are possible. It pretty much has to be a vowel, so it is
probably a "u". However, neither "spurs" nor "spurt" works and I cant
think of any other "spur?" words. "spyr?" doesn't seem likely either.

So we are pretty much stuck with "spo??". I can think of only three
words that work. "Spool" is one.

I'll guess

spook.

"Spurn" was a possibility for the "sp?r?" case that I missed. Cool.

I have a little word which is not...

Only the first of three guesses by tonster and polytarp have been
scored. Curiously, though polytarp and tonster seem to be playing a
different game, their guesses happen to be very useful.

We know the middle letter is "i"; their guesses eliminated the "wh"
and "ch" from "which".
