A garbage bag filled with air on a sunny day, If you leave it there on a warm
or hot day, it will begin to levitate. Weird, huh? Science has attempted to
explain this but they're just excuses, GARBAGE BAGS ARE INHABITEDBY ALIENS WHO
EAT GARBAGE!!!!!!

Back in the late 60's I was a student at EMU and about 500 kids saw several
orange disks flying from west to east. It got a lot of attention and was
mentioned in the local news. The story was discredited as "a bunch of
hysterical students who saw a strobe light on an airplane (they were new then)
and the newscasters had a laugh over it.

It turned out that some kids in Ann Arbor were sending up laundry bags with
kite-sticks in an "x" at the bottom with candles on the kite sticks. Sort
of a unique hot air balloon. This story was uncovered about 2 weeks later
and everyone was trying the kite trick for a while. It finally got enough
attention that people were asked to stop because of the fire hazard.

I guess my point is how easily the story was discredited with the ridiculous
explanation that we saw a strobe light (near an airport) and went nuts!

That's my UFO story.

Any proof of the "kite trick" ?

Yes - as I recall, photos of the spent kites & laundry bags were in the
Ann Arbor News along with please to stop because of the fire hazard.

interesting, but orange strobes where did the newscaastters gget taht?
mcpoz
response 64 of 70: Mark Unseen   Jun 27 01:56 UTC 1995

It made no sense at all. The strobes were blue-white flashes and the kits
were dim orange (apparant) disks in the sky with some size. They (kites) were
drifting gently over from west to east. The news reports were just a
convenient way to discredit the group as hysterical. That was my point - -
there was no way we were taken seriously.

I see your point mcpoz...it is easy enough to dismiss this kind of thing as
hysteria. Usually there is a non-supernatural cause (not always tho), but
it may not be the obvious one...
Who knows how many UFO's have been dismissed as airplanes, weather balloons, or
birds...

Most of the Grex crowd is too young to remember, but in 1964 there were many
UFO sightings around Ann Arbor, mostly in the Dexter area. They got
nationwide attention and were labeled by someone as "swamp gas." This drew
a lot of attention and it was laughed about on talk shows.

I was going to school at the time, and we drove out to Dexter about 2:00 am
one morning in February. The news was claiming they were being cited at that
time at Dexter-Pinckney and Fleming road. We were there, but saw nothing
unusual other than a bunch of cars looking for the same thing.

Actualy that happened to me once, with the newscaster and all. I was ten and
living in virginia at the time, some guy on the radio said that a ufo had been
sighted across the local area and I got out my bonoculars and sat out watching
for ufos on our front pourch for a number of hours. All I ended up seeing was
 a very low flying plane.
