acoustic tour of Borders stores. Portland OR on March 7,
Ann Arbor on March 27.

Oooh! Oooh! Ooooh!
I just found this listing in today's Ann Arbor News:
Marlee MacLeod, Friday April 27 (that's tomorrow or tonight, depending
on when you are reading this), Crazy Wisdom Bookstore, 114 S. Main
Ann Arbor, 8:30-10:30. FREE SHOW!!!
I *love* Marlee MacLeod. Sort of country, sort of folk/rock, with a quirky
voice that just pulls me in. She also plays her own lead electric guitar
on the recordings. She plays with a 4 or 5 piece band on her CDs, but
I have no idea if someone is paying for the whole band to tour with her.
I've enjoyed each of her four CDs.
She has a web page at http://www.marleemacleod.com

I put the Marlee MacLeod review in item:15. Saturday night, Crazy
Wisdom is hosting local blues guitarist Rollie Tussing III. I caught
the tail end of his set at Top of the Park last summer and was
quite impressed, so I might see if I can make it back to the bookstore
for the second night in a row. I hope to start getting e-mail with
the Crazy Wisdom concert schedule.

Summer is supposed to be the time nothing happens, right?
My overloaded dance card for this week looks like this:
Sunday: final night of Top of the Park
Monday: Michelle Shocked at the Ark
Tuesday: Lou Killen at the Ark (British traditional singer)
Wednesday: still open
Thursday: Te Vaka (Polynesian band) at Downtown Home and Garden (??!?!?)
Friday: Two chamber operas, Bernstein's "Trouble in Tahiti" and
Menotti's "The Telephone," Arbor Opera Theater.
Saturday: Concert of Colors in Detroit, including the French band Lo'Jo
who I adore.
And there are also three movies, all expecting to leave town after
Thursday, which I want to see. Aieeeee!
(I expect Lou Killen and the Concert of Colors to get squeezed out.)

You don't appear to have next Sunday, July 15 booked. I recommend
James Dapogny and the Rhythm Kings, appearing at the Firefly Club
from 5 to 8 pm. It's a 10-piece jazz band that does 1920s and 1930s
stuff. They appear weekly and I caught them tonight. They're
excellent. They'll also appear at the Art Fair, I believe on
Wednesday July 18.

Nothing like a few cancellations to clear the schedule (resp:57).
Te Vaka cancelled on Thursday, and the chamber opera program was
cancelled tonight. I suppose this theoretically leaves me free
for the Concert of Colors festival in Detroit, but that one is
still an all-day commitment and I need some down time before
Art Fair...
