Hah! Capitol just needs to show some sense. I *knew* there was something
I was looking forward to re:RT.

The May 4 date for the Richard Thompson box looks good. Some folks
in the biz have started to get advance cassette copies; one of the folks
at Schoolkids was raving about it today, and a track list has been
widely distributed on Usenet.
I have seen a posting on a Thompson concert date in June in the US.
I have not seen a comprehensive schedule.

Anything interesting in the track list?

About 50% of the box is supposed to be live tracks we have not heard
before.
There's a full page ad in the new Tower Pulse, and I've been told that
there's also a front page ad in Billboard. Capitol is really promoting
this.

Might as well kick this item to keep it alive. The new Richard Thompson
album, MIRROR BLUE, was all set for an August release, but it's been
caught in the backwash of a corporate overhaul at Capitol Records.
The release date is now set for January. There was to be a fall tour
to promote the album, and it's not clear from my reading of the Thompson
mailing list if it will proceed as scheduled, or if it will be delayed
until the album is out.

The new Richard Thompson album MIRROR BLUE is now scheduled for release
on January 25.
Thompson is headlining the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, darn it. I do *not*
want to sit in Hill Auditorium for six hours just to hear RT play for
30 minutes. I am desperately hoping for a Thompson-only tour stop in
Detroit or Grand Rapids.

Re 56. Janice and I were sort-of planning to go. Of course, I've had
really varied experiences with that festival, ranging from being crammed
into a top-balcony seat too short for my upper legs, to sitting in the
eighth row as the guests of affluent friends, with our names mentioned
in the program.

FYI: Richard Thompson is one of the headliners along with Michel Shocked at
the Ann ARbor Folk Festival on January 29. Tickets are available at the
usual places.

I *hate* the Ann Arbor Folk Festival. More specifically, I hate the idea
of sitting in Hill Auditorium for six hours.
Still no sign of a complete tour schedule, darn it.

From friends who attended the folk festival, we have a report of a
Richard Thompson concert appearance: April 10, the Majestic,
tickets on sale Friday. I cannot confirm any of this but I intend
to be at the Ticketmonster site reasonably early Friday.
The new RT album MIRROR BLUE can be "pre-ordered" at Schoolkids.
Supposedly this locks in a $12 price for the CD. Tower reportedly
will offer the same deal. On sale Tuesday!!!!!

I was initially fairly enthusiastic about the new Thompson album
MIRROR BLUE, but now I seem to be sinking into disinterest. It may
just be that it's not an album designed for 70-mph listening.

Just a reminder that Richard Thompson will be at the Majestic Theatre in
Detroit on Sunday.
