The Nylons do almost all covers. My favorite so far is their version
of "Lion Sleeps Tonight".

I heard a good one last night. Joan Jett and Peter Westerberg just
remade "Let's Do it". I liked it :) I think (not 100% sure) that it's
on the "Tank Girl" soundtrack.

There's a new version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" flating around the
airwaves right now with kind of a disco beat behind it. It's disgusting!!
I can't believe they'd trash a good song like that!

Oh, poot. It's not like original was an oil painting, now defaced.
I want to have more covers! Undoubtedly some will be awful, but
that's OK. Pop songs aren't religious texts, so let's not
venerate them.
I hear Lucy Kaplansky's album is mostly covers. Hope I can find it soon.

Billy Idol's version of Tommy James and the Shondells' "Mony Mony" gets my
vote.

I like the way Vanilla Fudge redid "Stop in the Name of Love" (Supremes)
and "Ticket to Ride" (Beatles)

The most interesting cover I've heard was off an early Rush bootleg. They
covered "Bad Boy" by the Beatles. (which in itself is a cover). I thought it
was pretty cool IMHO. :)

Pat Torpey (the drummer for Mr. Big) sang "Yesterday" by the Beatles
during an already incredible live drum solo.

Did anybody hear Amy Grant's cover of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi"?
It sounds almost exactly like the original except for the part that went
"They put all the trees, put 'em in a tree museum/and they charged the
people a dollar and a half just to see 'em." In the cover version, "a
dollar and a half" was changed to "twenty-five bucks." Has inflation been
that bad since the original came out?

When I heard it, I thought it was Shawn Colvin until the dj said otherwise.
It's the first Amy Grant song I've heard that didn't make me want to change
the station.

Although some Contemporary Christian music enthusiasts say that Amy Grant
has sold her soul for rock and roll. But what the heck do I know? IMHO,
contemporary Christian music sucks. I'm going to Hell for saying that,
but if I do, it's my problem, not theirs!
