Jewel boxes are available at Tower for less than a dollar each. I guess the
thing to do is go get some empties for the CD's that didn't come with jewel
boxes.
I just bought Shepherd Moons by enya from Tower and it came in a long box
that held the jewel box. It seems to me that the longbox could be phased
very easily.

FWIW: I once got some jewel boxes at The Scrap Box for their usual low prices.

Yep.. Every once in a while you can find them there, and when you do,
what a bargain! ($0.10)

I wasn't the paperboard longboxes that were so frustrating, as the
plastic longbox. It was total non-reclyled waste. The paperboard
longbox could at least go thru an incinerator with no problem, but
to best recyle them they should have been returned to the store, but
no big store chain made the pratical.
I like the shrink wrapped jewel box idea used now, thank you.

i hate the cardboard crap. It is just a cheaper way of distribution, and
considering that the jewel box is the most expensive part of the cd (a disk
mass produces cost aroiun .05 to make)....it seems that they are going back tto
jewl cases...tahnk godd.

Does that mean that all of the people that "stuck" with the echo-pacs now
have collectables?

Only if no one else saves 'em, lots of people want 'em, and yours
are in good shape...

Actually, even if they do become worth something, I still don't like them.
I have labeled my CD jewel boxes with numbers so that I can better keep
track of them, but cannot label any of the cardboard echo-pacs because
they are of nonstandard size and cannot be relabeled (without damage) in
the future.
