Re #45, point 5), the new modems with timeouts are used both by 9600
baud users as well as 2400 baud users, since they're on the same trunk
hunt, no? So anyone who happens to be on those modems has the same
time limit imposed, regardless of speed.
10 minutes seems *really* too short. Personally, I do most of my
editing locally, then upload the results. I'm sure I take more than
10 minutes to edit some responses, and being hung up mid-conference is
a nuisance. People who type/edit that long on Grex wouldn't have this
problem, but i think it's an example of a reason why you might have 10
minutes of idle time, counter to your point in 5). Unless that still
falls under your idea of a bad use ("there is no good reason...").
As for limiting use of 9600 lines to only when you're going to be
utilizing the bandwidth effectively, again I disagree. As long as the
lines are free, and they almost always are when I want to use them,
I'm not going to connect at 2400 just because I'm idle while editing.
