Indications of substantial appreciation for the quality of my work from a VP
of a major international media company...

Two nights at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Cleveland, at no cost to me...

Several very fine meals (at Lola Bistro in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood,
the Worthington Inn, outside of Columbus, and Lindey's, north of Cleveland)
with friendly and interesting people, at no cost to me...

Pleasant conversations with several very attractive young women including a
particularly appealing Austrian named Margit...

It's been quite a week!

re 474: Actually, even if I'd 4.0'ed the final, the best I could have gotten
in the class was a 2.5, which is why I was so happy.

Homework (not doing it) really bit me in that class.

Oops, forgot my happy bit:

After several months of vacation the software part of my brain seems to have
recovered! I'm presently starting on a little Palm Pilot project to see if
I want to do that sort of thing, and it's not a problem to develop the
necessary concentration and interest.

re#479: The job I'm doing for them is a one-person job, and for only
about six weeks -- most of it locally (meaning in the metro Detroit
area). So, no, they're not hiring more, though I expect they'll offer me
the position again next year. Meanwhile, I hope to leveage the
connections and performance record into some kind of production work...

IHB I have a nice relaxing day of doing nothing but what I wanted to do...
sleeping, watching tv, and cooking.

I have made a batch of jam with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and
blackberries; and then another back without the blueberries. I made a batch
of scones, and buttermilk biscuits as well. So, ya'll are invited to come
for a midnight snack if you can find my place. pbbblt.

butter, beer, lettuce and tomato?

Went to an outdoor Homebrew Day brewing party in Saline yesterday. I'd
thought the friend who'd invited me was a brewing fanatic until I saw some
of the setups being used there. The most common setup was three full size
(15.5 gallon) beer kegs cut open and used as pots, sometimes on a custom-built
rack with a big propane burner for each pot.

resp:467 hey, if it works and he likes it, more power to ya.. just the
context made boy sound like boy as in "here, boy!"

hmmm.. things are on an even keel for right now. We went to a Chinese
buffet/restaurant that was actually pretty classy-- and that's saying
a lot for our area, especially when the prices aren't exhorbitant.

I had an *excellent* weekend. :) :) Quiet evening with boy on Friday, trip
to Haymarket Saturday morning, where I bought about 40 pounds of fruit (for
under $20), then spent most of the afternoon turning much of the fruit into
*really* yummy fruit salad while watching the Wings win a second straight
game against St Louis. Hung out with friends and then went to a party that
evening, where a truly adorable Harvard grad student (blond, blue-eyed, tan,
tall, very fit) spent most of the evening following me around. Yesterday
we drove up to New Hampshire and spent the day hiking in theWhite Mountains,
which was unbelievable. There are a ton of streams fed by the melting snow,
and they are unbelievably clear and beautiful, and the rock formations are
incredible. Came home and went to my labmate's apartment to watch DVD's of
a couple of German movies (including a western strongly reminiscent of
Blazing Saddles. :))
Depression? What depression? :)

I used to climb Mt. Monadnock with a friend every May 1. I recall coming down
one year by sitting on the snow and sliding. Is it snowy in the mountains?

All done packing, evil alien life forms (dust bunnies) have been removed
by the sucking device, and I only have 1 test left tomorrow.
