re #46
Thanks. Do you feel comfortable that there is no mention of the photocopied
ID being held in a file for exclusive view by any investigator or law
enforcement official "just in case"? I think it would be a good policy to
be as forthcoming as possible about the limit of privacy a person can expect
with their ID. Maybe even go so far as to explain where the ID will be stored
and how much security that involves so they can get a "feel" if their identity
is "really" protected.

There are two reasons Grex requires ID from its members:
    1. While we are very comfortable allowing anonymous users access to
Grex, we are not comfortable unleashing them on the rest of the
Internet. It would be irresponsible of the Grex administration to
allow people we can't identify to telnet through Grex to other
systems, so we require ID from everyone we allow to do that.
    2. Cyberspace Communications is required by the state of Michigan to
maintain an up-to-date list of members. Implied in this requirement

The FAQ says that ID is only available to the treasurer. It also says that
ID information is not stored on the net. I think that's pretty clear. If
people want more information than that, they can ask, and I'll tell them.

Re resp:45: You'll note that comment was directed at naftee. He's shown
time and time again that he's only here to troll. He's not really
interested in Grex's future or its policies, except to the extent he can
use them to make trouble.

re 50
It's funny how you have difficulty following through with even your _own_
logic. Let us entertain your suggestion for the sake of argument. If my
intention in life were in fact to cause as much trouble as possible for GreX
and its policies (a fact which is obviously false), can you not see that
sending money to GreX for a membership would be a logical extension to this
troublemaking? And by further extension, can you not see that this would be
thereby a form of _helping_ GreX, by keeping it alive with money and variety?
For shame, gull.

Nominations are open now through November 15 for the Grex Board of Directors.
See Item 207 in the Coop conference (item:coop.207) for background and to
