Intended participants would have little trouble finding the Rainbow Room or
the Pink Triangle. Neither of those are very obscure codewords.
But "Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual" works fine for me.
Or "The Queer Conference", unless there's a lot of objection to that term.
(You could even strong arm me into "The Gay Conference")
(Brighn would call it "Pink Fuzzy Elephants" if that's what people wanted)

OK, but would you force people to type "j rainbowroom" or is there a good
abbreviation for one (or more) of the above?

Unless Void objects (or someone else does):
Conference Name: The Queer Conference
Abbreviations: queer, gay, glb, lesbian
(Now, if someone was coming through on AOL, they'd have to use glb, I guess
=} )
Howzat?

I think this conf willbe a good idea though...it is also a
perfect example of a conf where anonymous reads (via backtalk) would
come in handy.. People might be more open about discussing things
related to this if they can post anonymously.

There's a difference between anonymous reading and anonymous posting.
Even if BackTalk gets opened up to "anonymous" reading, people are still
going to need a Grex account to post. Of course, since a Grex account
*is* as anonymous as people decide to make it, Grex has always had
anonymous posting.

That "hidden" button means that the response is "expurgated" (so people have
to take extra steps to see it), not that the response is anonymous.
Re 450: That depends on your intended audience. If your intended audience
for the conference is mature gay people, then yup, they may well know to look
for the names you've given. If your intended audience also includes someone
who is very young and trying to figure out some difficult questions for the
first time, that person may not know what to look for. My personal opinion
is that an on-line forum is a fairly "safe" place for people to first
explore questions about their sexual orientation, and so you may well have a
lot of young people looking for this conference.
In any case, I suppose it's a moot point, since you've chosen names that
aren't obscure.

In Music conference item #211, I believe we have come to a consensus
on spinning off a Classical Music conference, and restarting the "general"
Music conference.
The new conference would be called classicalmusic, with abbreviations
to classical and classic. FWs would be Michael Delizia (md) and
Leslie Smith (arabella).
The restarted music conference would retain krj & arabella as FWs.
raven and kewy would be additional FWs.
I will need a short time to prepare for setting up the new Music cf.
Please correct me if I've mis-reported anything.
Should the existing music conference be left as "oldmusic"?
Dumped into the Storage conference? ??

(If you give me or dang the item numbers of the items you'll
be linking over, one of us can link them to storage before the
conference is obliterated . . . )

I'd just like to say that krj in #464 reported accurately. I'm in support
of the split & restart if others think it's OK...

Ken -- Should I read #464 as a request for a change (so as a cfadm I should
go ahead and do it) or as a request for discussion (so I should hold off)?
Thanks....

Beats me. We already discussed it in the music cf item 211.
I don't see much further discussion here. But I still need a little time
to get the new introductory items ready for the new music cf.
And I expect Leslie needs the same for the classical music cf.

they're only open to fair witnesses right now.

Any new items in the current music conference will be linked over.
