(At the rate we're going, this may turn out to be Grex's first 1000-response
item...)

(It will. We're going to have to do *something*; what newcomer will want to
breeze through even 500 items, even short ones, to get to the current game?)

John, you should have guessed!

Yikes! Yipes! I don't think "zowie" is a *real* word, remmers.
That is, it's not in my dictionary.
In all fairness, my dictionary has been proven limited in the past.
In fact it also doesn't contain "yikes" or "yipes".
If my dictionary is just interjection deficient, I apologize.
So please correct me, those of you who have these interjections
in your dictionaries, and I will then give the match count for zowie.

(Hmm... I don't see anything in the rules about the word having to be
in a dictionary. The rules exclude proper names, abbreviations,
and punctuation marks, but not interjections.)

"Zowie" is definitely a real word; I suspect the lexicographers are afraid it
will be gone again before they get it in print. (OTOH, some of the things
they *do* include ... )

Egads! I'm confused. If words don't have to be in dictionaries, then
perhaps it's possible for people to make them up?
I am happy to accept independent opinions, and based on davel's
comments, I am happy to process "zowie", but how should people
handle this (for the purposes of this game)?
Btw, my dictionary does list "egad", but not "egads".
