re #398: popcorn, the recovery conference that i fw on m-net is open and
always has been. people are welcome to post there under their own loginids
or pseudonymously. the closed conferences you're thinking of are friends and
support, and i'm not a member or fw of either one.

I think void's proposed conference sounds like an excellent one, and I cannot
think of another conference on Grex that would be appropriate for it.

I would just like to say that a fw cf isn't *such* a bad idea, i mean when
you think about it, if a new fw has some problems, he could ask em there,
there are probably other fw's who wonder th same thing. There Is a good
side to it ya know. And if you don't lke the idea, no one is forcing you
to join. Val if you wanna talk to me about it, any time im on, just let
me know. Just think about it everyone.

RE: Adam's request, I guess your just gonna haveta experiment in agora
first! But I'm sure it will be in demand soon enough.

People are stating their opinions here, Kevin, but the final
decision is yours. If you want the fw conference, you can have
it.

Remmers, I knwo people are just stating there opinions here, and so am I. I am
not gonna gt a cf when everyone hates it. Theres no point. So, Ill jsut see
how things turn themselves out.

Not to change the subject, but I am about to leave the VIDEOGAME confernce
to z0mbie and gabygirl. Is there a way that someone can restart the confernce
and take my name off of the fair-witness list? I'm just embarrassing myself
in it . .

Adam, give it another shot, and we wont take you off the list!!!! You wanted
the damn thing, now just keep trying. You can take a break from it.

(Best way to request restarts and fairwitness changes is to send
mail to "cfadm".)

I would be willing to co-fw a fw conference. I think that
it would be a natural repository for issues concerning fair
witnesses, and any items concerning policy issues could be
linked to the Co-op conference. The conference can be a
convenient tool for fair witnesses just starting out, or
for old pros who want to ask other fair witnesses how they
feel about various issues.

I have to admit, though, that I'm stretching my time among
many activities nowdays, so I may not be able to give this
conference the attention it deserves. I would really like
to see such a conference exist, though, since I think that
it has the potential to be a very valuable tool.

I would like to propose a conference for people making
videos/movies. Issue would include, digital v.s. analogue, film v.s.
video, discussions of VHS, VHS-S, 8mm video, 8 mm & 16 mm film, lenses,
video feedback, etc.

I would also like to express support for the recovery & gay/lesbian/bi
conf proposals.

Not to be selfish, but..

So are we going to go ahead with the ISP/OSP thing, or have we decided that
the internet thing is good enough?

BTW, the video/movie making conference that raven suggested sounds PDC (pretty
damn cool) to me, even though I don't make movies!

(Personally, I think that the ISP/OSP thing would fit
nicely in the Internet conference . . . Have you read
the Internet conference?)

i'd support it too, and even be willing to FW

Well, nephi, the original requester retracted his request, and you say you
don't have enough time to run it all yourself, so it might not be possible.
And don't look at me to help you. I don't like the idea myself.

response 415 of 470: Mark Unseen   Oct 10 18:28 UTC 1996

I like the fw conf. In fact I suggested it a few months back and
got flamed for it. Amazing how much difference the person making the
suggestion has on how seriously it is considered.

This item has no rudder and it's drifting. Any ideas on the new
confs that have been proposed?

Even a boat with a rudder drifts if there is no motor.

I'd like to propose a conference for getting community discussions going about
the People's Food Coop.
Four PFC board members have agreed to check in regularly if such a confernece
gets started. We realize that this may or may not be a communications tool
that is really useful for getting community input, but want to give it a try.
I would be willing to be fw. Although I haven't worked with Picospan, I spent
two years doing conference admin stuff on Confer, and I think I could figure
this out with a little help from my friends.
We are facing (as usual for coops) some decisions about what to do with
Packard, how to get members to give the board more input, etcetera, etcetera.
We intend for this to be an open conference; there would be no attempt to
limit it to PFC members, and in fact would like to put in items that make it
easy for non-members to get information about shopping and volunteering.
Any comments, questions, etc.
For those of you who don't know, I am currently the president of PFC.
