I don't know whether this qualifies as a system problem, but I note
that the motd references item 80 in Agora for further information on
grex walks.

Can someone please update the motd once a grex walk item has been entered
in the Winter Agora?

I updated the motd to reference OldAgora until someone gets around
to posting a walk item in the current Agora.

Usually I set the walk items, but winter Agora is always a problem because
I'm wrapped up with holiday stuff. I'll get it done for next weekend.

It seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time for email to get "sent".
I use pine, and once i "control x" to send it, I wait for maybe 10 - 15
seconds before it does anything.

It seems to me that it used to happen much faster.

grex.org is not resolving from my japan based ip addresses
nor at least one isp in hawaii. is there a problem with
the dns server?

grex.org is not resolving from my Michigan ISP, either. I got here
using cyberspace.org.

response 19 of 384: Mark Unseen   Jan 3 15:25 UTC 2004

Mail is not being sent within at least 30 sec (I finally hit Ctrl-C) and I
have not received any mail, even spam, for the past 12 hours or so.
ssh from grex did not work for me this morning.

response 20 of 384: Mark Unseen   Jan 3 16:15 UTC 2004

Earlier, when I tried to use lynx to access google.com, it sat for several
minutes. It then gave a message saying something about "my hostname", which
I think it gave as grex.cyberspace.org, not existing.

response 21 of 384: Mark Unseen   Jan 3 16:21 UTC 2004

www.cyberspace.org is not resolving, and mail sending is failing from
Pine. When I try to send mail, it sits there for about a minute, then
exits with "Illegal instruction (core dumped)".

I got that message again (out of the blue, while telnetted out from Grex, &
AFAICS manifesting no other problem except the message). Here's the exact
text:

My host name (grex.cyberspace.org) does not seem to exist!: Connection timed
out

I have the vague impression that one of the domain names is in the process
of being transfered. I wonder if that has anything to do with this.
