Thanks, Jeffrey. That does the trick.

Notes for fellow-newbies: SCRIBBLE is a synonym for ERASE (you can use either
command). The command must be typed completely, unlike most other bbs commands
which require only a unique prefix. You must specify the number of your
response to be erased.

Do the counts of new items and responses displayed when you start bbs include
all conferences, or just the default Agora conference?

good questions. Does anyone know of the .cfrc file is parsed when starting
bbs? I used to be able to 'browse new' auto-magically.

The count of new items and responses is for the current conference, whichever
one that is. If you leave one conference, say agora, to join another
conference, say coop, you'll get a count of new items and responses for the
new conference, in this example, coop.

I don't know whether bbs parses the .cfrc file. I don't have one, but I do
have a .cfonce file, which does get used.

Another note to fellow newbie Grexers -- Definitely do check
out the other BBS conferences besides Agora. There is an
amazing amount of really interesting material on every subject
imagineable going back to the early 1990s.

Definitely set up your cflist file. It's a list of conferences
that you want to check regularly. After you read new content
in Agora, enter the BBS command N (NEXT) to check the
conferences in your list for new items and responses, too.

Note that the main Grex menu's change command choice to
maintain your cflist (which is mentioned in documentation
inside and outside BBS) does NOT work currently. Instead, run
remove conferences from your list.

You can also directly edit the file: ~/.cfdir/.cflist

JJYYPPCC, you can change your Grex shell with the `change` command. Pick Shell
form the menu, then set your shell to one of the following:

       /bin/sh
       /bin/csh
       /bin/ksh
       /usr/local/bin/bash
       /usr/local/bin/es
       /usr/local/bin/psh
       /usr/local/bin/rc
       /usr/local/bin/sash
       /usr/local/bin/scsh
       /usr/local/bin/tcsh
       /usr/local/bin/zsh
       /cyberspace/bin/bbsh
       /cyberspace/bin/menu
 .

If you are validated, of course. If not your are stuck in a restricted
shell (resh).

You can hit the Koopas with your shell but make sure you jump if it
ricochets off of a pipe.

Also, green koopas will walk off a cliff, but red koopas are smarter and will
not walk off a cliff. Beware of blue koopas, as they walk faster.

The system is trying to trick you into thinking it is vibrant and useful
with new posts. People are interested in Grex!
