I remember when we first bought a video camera it would reset itself to
1/1/80 randomly.  But we knew that was wrong because Olivia wasn't born
yet then and she was in the videos! :) 

But 9/28/84 doesn't sound like a day to rest to...

If I could hazard a (probably wrong) guess, I seem to recall that a lot of
computers reset to some date in '84.  I don't know why though...
