It gives me warm fuzzies to see such activity in my auction item.

re resp:36: Eric, you need to cultivate your antipathies carefully. In
your position, it can be important to despise -- and be despised by --
the right type of people.

When nobody has made a new bid in at least a week, an auctioneer will
enter a response saying that the item is "going once" to the highest
bidder. If 24 hours pass without a new bid, the auctioneer will
announce that the item is "going twice". And if another 24 hours go
by without a bid, then an auctioneer announces that the item is sold.
No sale is final until an auctioneer says so, so if 24 hours have
passed since "going twice" but the item has not been closed, you may
 continue bidding.

SEE?!

NO_ONE"S WON YET!!

polytarp, I'm not playing this game. If you made a bid and are not going to
follow through on it, you are costing Grex money, not to mention wasting my
time. So either withdraw your bid and deal with the consequences, or pay
what you promised (assuming you win).

Your bid of $13.02 is not accepted. One more delaying tactic and I'm
declaring all your bids invalid and banning you from the auction.

Are responses 43, 45, 46 and 47 of sufficent general interest for someone to
summarize them to those of us who are using a twit filter?
polytarp
response 50 of 63: Mark Unseen   May 31 18:11 UTC 2003

Okay! If you declare all my bids invalid, I'll send Grex 15 U

I bid 13.03.

re #49: No.

response 52 of 63: Mark Unseen   May 31 19:16 UTC 2003

OK, it's clear now that polytarp is not going to take this seriously, so I'm
dismissing all his bids.  That leaves kip as the high bidder, at $13.00;
I'll see if he's still interested in the item. (He's not obliged to be,
since he was outbid and therefore had a right to assume he could spend his
money elsewhere.)

SEE!?!

polytarp: Do you know that aruba guy?
it: no, although I do expect that I've seen him in party, I don't know
          him
polytarp: Oh.
polytarp: He's mad at
polytarp: ME!
polytarp: 'cause I bidded in the Grex auction, and then realised
polytarp: I didn't want tod plesco sending me stuff,
polytarp: so I delayed the auction purposely.
polytarp: And that led to him CANCELLING all my bids.
polytarp: But I'm still going t send the money.
polytarp: I JUST DON"T WANT TOD PLESCO TO SEND ME ANYTHING.
it: well, you'd hope they still accept it...

response 57 of 63: Mark Unseen   Jun 2 04:52 UTC 2003

So, is polytarp banned from the auctions?
Or what? Cause it looks like to me he is just gonna outbet people by
one cent and then not pay for stuff....
dosen't seem fair to me......
and i dont wan't him doing that in my items.

Re #57: Yes, all of polytarp's current and future bids in this auction are
hereby rejected. I'm disappointed (but not angry) he decided not to act
like an adult when given the chance, but that left me with no choice.
aruba
response 61 of 63: Mark Unseen   Jun 2 14:54 UTC 2003

Since kip is OK with his bid of $13, this item is going once to him.
(Thanks Kip.)
