The list of guesses and counts will be kept in /a/r/c/rcurl/letter.match
The rules of this game are in /a/r/c/rcurl/lettermatch.rules (the rules
are written for the five letter game, but the extension to six letters is
clear).

I feel compelled to warn everyone that one of those dictionaries I mentioned
above *does* accept fancier wildcard strings than I thought; for instance I
was able to enter "?ucha?" and it found "nuchal". Perhaps we should consider
banning such searches? WHat do you all think?
I'm thinking of a six-letter word.

I just looked up ?nucha? on http://www.m-w.com/netdict.htm with lynx.
Had to fiddle a little bit to get the hang of retrieving the words after the
search, but sure enough - it found nuchal fine. Does anyone need lynx
instructions?

Rane, could you put the instructions in a file we can consult from time to
time?

It's too simple for that. At a unix prompt, enter
lynx http://www.m-w.com/netdict.htm
and wait for lynx to do its thing (I think you may have to be a grex member
to have lynx work....is that true, someone?).You also need at least a vt-100
termtype. You get around each page with up/down arrow keys, and follow links
with right/left arrow keys. There is a command menu at the bottom of each
page. It is no worse than pine. If you want, you can suspend out of
this item, to do your search, and then return to enter your word.
