Rane you are being a jerk. Use a twit filter. Twits like attention.

I don't think just pointing out that he's a dope/jerk IS an effective way of
confronting him, or any other dope/jerk.

Those are your opinions. I have mine. Why do we need to fight? I'm not
attacking your opinions.

As an empirical Man of Science, can you offer us any evidence of this
effectiveness you claim?

Can anyone with a credulous bone in their body really believe that an old,
weak man responding to jmvm's every post with 'What a jerk' is going to
convince jmvm to stop posting and it's going to annoy people just as much if
not more than his posts?
I like jmvm's posts BECAUSE of the response they receive and because, even
though they might be repetative, they have infinitely more variety than Prof.
Kerl's.

What's this, ageism *and* weakism? scholar has these atrophied mental
images of people.
"repetitive"
My evidence is a number of current Grex users that started out as jerks
but by being reminded of that have become quite interesting participants.
I'm opposed to Sindi's prescription of using twit filters, by the way.
That does nothing to correct the situation since it is the same as not
even being there.

I don't try to convince jerks that they are jerks, I just ignore them.

And we're all happy knowing you find comfort in ignoring them.Everyone
else will deal with jerks in the manner that makes them comfortable. If
they don't ignore them, deal.

It would probably be easier to filter Rane than to convince him his "jerk"
comments are compounding the problem.

It is the usual problem a group of people who care very dearly about
the same thing but who have strong and opposite opinions of how
best to resolve a problem that affects it.

There would be like *5* people left...seriously, I can think of maybe 3 people
on here who aren't obnoxious from time to time. (And I most assuredly am not
one of them.)

I can think of aruba, mcnally, janc, remmers, bhoward, i, srh, jadecat,
polygon and even some grexers not on board or staff who are never obnoxious.

I think all of those people (except srh, who the hell is he?) are basically
good people and if I had $500, I would trust any one of them to return it if
I gave it to them.

any sort of purpose. However, not everything always has to serve a purpose.

THat's nice of you to include me, Sindi. I don't *think* I'm obnoxious, but
I'm not sure. I'll add charcat and slynne to your list. But, who one finds
obnoxious is certainly a matter of taste.
