That sucks. There's only one solution: slow down on your deliverables.

Still going on this project. The deadline is tomorrow and we had to
reprogram a bunch of things at the last minute and you know who got
stuck doing it. At least the main program is working correctly
finally. We'll probably be working into the weekend again. Some
places like the Death March method of project scheduling and staffing.
I hope this doesn't go on and on and on.

That's how I got into this job. Needed a better job. It seems
this entire industry has just gotten worse over the last 10 years.
Anyway, thanks. I might try to go back to the job I had 10
years ago but there's no guarantee it might not be just as bad
now. If I hang in here, maybe I can get a promotion out of this
mess or at least on a different project.

Good luck.
For me, the Japanese retirement age of 60 is looming closer with alarming
rapidity.

They are considering moving me to management. That might be a good
thing.

Heh. I don't mind. What I do mind is trying to do programming
while going to meetings all day. Hopefully it won't be like that.

I'm sad because I'm bored and frustrated in my job and
there don't seem to be any other options locally. I've been
somewhat actively looking for over a year. I had hoped to
find something more interesting and rewarding but I'm at the
point now where I'd probably settle for something different.

I've always found the best way to deal with that is to try the options
a little further away until something closer comes along. The travel
is no fun but it beats not wanting to go to work for a bad job.

I am looking a little further afield. Can't go too far
though or I won't get home before my children go to bed. No
job is worth that.

I am sad because we hired a guy at my level who feels he's a super
programmer and has to modify working programs and turn them into
ones that don't work. He's going to fix them supposedly.
