The distinction may determine how one will respond to them. But, you are
right. It isn't "or", just "if".

Hmm, that God has given him a chance to repent and to follow the correct
path?

Interesting story on NPR today about right wing religious leaders
complaining that Robertson's off-the-wall remarks are casting a bad
light on all of them.

wasn't it robertson who requested that someone assassinate the venzuala
el presidente?
it didn't take this much for me to recognize the idiocy inherent in
his ramblings & spewings but the reinforcement is comedic.

Actually, the more I think about it, the reason the pope stays sane, and
it's harder for fundamentalist ministers to do so, is that the pope has to
work his way up through the ranks of his organization before he becomes
the head. So he sees things from many sides, and he has a chance to
mature before he gets put in charge.

I don't like the current Pope, rumours abot his being a Nazi being false,
notwithstanding.

Re #49: No they don't do that anymore. :) (I saw that episode of 20/20
too.)
I think my point was: if you obtain your position by pure charisma, and not
through education and compromise and generally having to get along with
people, you probably have less of a stable base to stand on.

let him in on the jesus theme-park they're working
