She could phone it in... Friday at the dojo banquet the keynote speaker missed
his flight, so one of the instructors held his cell phone up to the mic, and
we still got a nice speech.

resp:23 resp:28 I haven't heard either sing, unfortunately, and I
didn't even know Erinn sang. I've been known to sing, since I am
studying as a baritone/bass, but I am also stuck here in Central WA and
cannot quite afford a trip to A2 again.
*sigh* This sounded nice, but I guess it's better not to toot my own
horn. I usually sing and play my classical guitar for my own enjoyment
anyway.

Maybe someone could set up a Real Audio connection so Lumen could play for
the recital even though he was in Washington.

re #24: me thinks John chides me for leaving a2. [: How about if we all call
in on a donated cell phone. <g>
re #26: if we get the poetry chapbook finished in time for the performance,
it might be interesting to have a few of the attending poetry cf'ers read from
it.
re #27: smart ass.
re #28: surprising, lumen, that you've forgotten -- we've have a couple of
conversations about music, one was even in person when we were both in a2
last. Gettin a mite rusty upstairs, ol' man? d=

resp:35 Rusty? No, maybe scatterbrained-- I have SO much to think
about in one day, really, and it was a small chunk of data that somehow
got forgotten. Really, Erinn, when I was in A2, I was talking music
with a lot of people, so I may have forgotten a few things. *sigh*
That reminds me, one day I'll get "Ann Arbor Rag" finished-- at least
to a degree-- that John could play. I feel bad that I have shelved the
manuscript for so long since my music dictation is terrible (we can't
transmit the data by MIDI from a Diskclavier).
I do miss you all terribly and do wish that I could be there in person.
resp:30 I can, although you'd have to listen to all the rest of my
classmates in the guitar ensemble. I don't have great recording
equipment of my own, but if I can figure something out, I will try to
pick my best guitar tune and my best vocal piece.

I asked Jonathan whether he would like to sing a duet with me in such a
recital, and he said No, but indicated that he would like to play the piano.
(He's 13 now) If the date doesn't conflict with our *full* summer schedule,
probably each boy would like to make an appearance as pianist.

Very nice.
I've done a little calling around to try to find a suitable
space. I'm placing some follow-up calls tomorrow. A space
that is priced right and comes with a piano seems to be
the sticky point.
I apologize ahead of time for not being able to post lots
of dates here and have a debate about which one works best
but by the time we decide the space would, no doubt, be booked.
So I'm probably going to just go with an open Saturday or Sunday
afternoon, in June, if I can get such a date. If you are planning to
perform and know there is a day in there you can't make, please let me
know in mail ASAP. Thanks.

Mary, havwe you tried Northside Community Church? They do
lots of recitals there, and only ask for a $50 contribution
(which I would be willing to help out with).

Nope, didn't know about Northside. I'll call them too.
Thanks, Leslie.
I am looking into First Presbyterian Church (where we had
it last time), Kerrytown Concert House, and Green Wood Coffee
House (where Katie has concerts).

We'll here is where it's at. Dates are tight. It looks like
either Saturday, June 24th, or sometime in very late July or
in August. On June 24th we lose a couple of people who
aren't available, which leave only about five or six
people who have stated an interest in performing. I'm not
sure that's enough interest, actually.
Do we go for something later in the summer and hope to round-up
more interest? Take the June 24th date and just have it be
a smaller deal? Whatchathink?

I've gone through and counted up the volunteers.
Aruba, scott, remmers, orinoco, otter, davel & family, jules, arabella and
katie have all said they'd be interested. But so far only aruba and
remmers have confirmed they can make June 24th. I know arabella and davel
& family can't make it that date. So I'm going to call and release the
reservation.
I'll ask about dates in August.

I don't expect to be back in Ann Arbor until about August 23.
I would really like to participate in the grex recital, so
a date at the end of August or beginning of September would
work best for me.

be interested, especially if she can convince Damon to play his trumpet in
a duet with her.
