I do hope that being at the bottom of such an extended list will not diminish
the seriousness of my request. It would please me much, Your Majesty, if I
could be granted the title of" Sir Kirby, Protector of the Royal Roadways." I
would foresee as my duties to keep the roads into and out of the kingdom free
of cattle and other hazards, while keeping you informed of important goings-on
in trans-land activities (heavy traffic, roving gangs, etc.) Thank you for
hearing my humble request.
