The "Nick Strange Trio". More of a late dinner set; something like 9-12.

What's the place like? How big, etc?

roomwith a couple of tables. barfood...mixed population
of yuppie trash, vietnam vets, harley riders, 20 something
people with short hair and too much cologne.

i can't remember if they have any good scotch
prolly just glenlivet or something

acoustics SEEM ok, folks are mostly mellow, goodtiming
and i have never seen a fight. the staff are always really nice
to me

it's one of the few places in plymouth that isn't laboring under

After digging up the remaining quart and half of urethane I had left
from the first half of the bookshelf project, I found that a bad seal
on the can had turned it into a mass of caramel with a solid crust.
The cost isn't a big factor, but the waste offends me and the extra
time required to run out for more kept me from having a better ride.

so I came home tonight to hang out with some friends, and they both, for
separate reasons, didn't make it. so now I'm in ann arbor for no good reason.
grr. If I'd known this was going to happen, I would have brought more
homework.

Been kinda out of it all day...actually, since yesterday. The Wings fiasco
really didn't help much either.

One of the account execs I work with is going to be in Memphis for the
beginning of this week, but I'm being sent to Columbus with another one
instead. :(

That means no quick side trip to meet beeswing.

Now that the weather's turned cold again I can't keep my windows open,
and most of my place is too full of paint-thinner fumes to use.

We left the air conditioner on yesterday. It didn't run, so it didn't use
any energy, but the house dropped to 62 before I got around to switching back
to "heat". I don't know if this belongs in "happy" or "bummed", but here it
is.

Oh, but I'm beyond broke. And the situation with the Undatable One just gets
odder and odder. Ah well, I'll have a job and some time to myself in a month
whether I like it or not.

Mmm...stepping on the phone when I got up to go to the bathroom at 5:30am and
cutting open my foot. WHO THE HELL CUTS OPEN THEIR FOOT ON A PHONE? Yet,
there it is, its a dial phone and I cut my foot on the little finger guard
at the end of the dial.

Re #291: you have a DIAL phone? Weren't they abandoned because they
were such a safety hazard, getting your finger tip sliced off in
that stop?

We now have FOUR hard drives that are no longer autodetected by a computer
with either of two controller cards, and the other computer will detect them
as single but not slave (and sometimes as master) and one of them suggests
to scandisk that it has a bad cluster 2 in FAT and we recycled the third
computer because we thought it was a motherboard problem. See the computer
hardware problem for details and can anyone help? Virus?

How did you cut yourself on vanilla ice cream? As for the dial phone, I
would not trade it for the world. I love old equipment, but it is really nice
because it gives me an excuse to never use automatic phone services.

response 298 of 823: Mark Unseen   Apr 24 15:01 UTC 2002

Some automatic service, like automatic buttoning, are useful and free.
How about just using WILL POWER to not use other phone services?

But I agree with the sentiment for "heritage" equipment.

Yes, the 1980 or so Western Electric wall phone is still
on my kitchen wall, still in service. It's main function though,
is to *ring*, not tweedle.
